Untitled[edit]

I know that there was a Paramount Records label in Australia in the 1920s with a different design of label... anyone know the relationship (if any) to USA Paramount? Wondering simply, -- Infrogmation 17:25, 4 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I can't imagine there is any connection at all. -Freekee 03:48, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't there also a "Paramount Records" that was a subsidiary of ABC records from c. 1960-1978? - releasing records by Ray Charles, Jim Croce, Steely Dan, et al.? (At least in the US)

Fair use rationale for Image:ParamountLabelBLJefferson.jpg[edit]

Image:ParamountLabelBLJefferson.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

relative quality?[edit]

The current wording is "Paramount offered recordings of standard pop-music fare, on records initially recorded with average audio fidelity pressed in average quality shellac, but with the coming of electric recording, both the audio fidelity and shellac quality went downhill to well below average." Doe this mean that their quality did not go down, but that everyone else's quality went up, and Paramount did not keep pace? -Freekee (talk) 02:48, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An even more egregious error is this:"In 1918 a line of phonograph gramophone records was debuted with the "Paramount" label. They were recorded and pressed by Chair Company subsidiary 'The New York Recording Laboratories, Incorporated,' which despite its name was located in the same Wisconsin factory complex as the parent concern (advertisements, however, stated somewhat misleadingly, "Paramounts are recorded in our own New York laboratory")." Sorry; the ad is not misleading at all, as their studio in Wisconsin wasn't established until 1929, and prior to that they rented studios in New York and Chicago. All of the 1919 Paramount Records were made in New York.Pinikadia 03:49, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Pinikadia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinikadia (talkcontribs)
