Height and classification query[edit]

"B of the Bang" quote[edit]

It is often reported that Linford Christie made the quote, and in truth he did, but (I am sure, and I will try to find citations) his quote came after consulting Colin Jackson (the 110m World Record Holder) on how he could improve his start, and "Colin told [me] to go on the B of the Bang". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.38.93.206 (talk) 14:22, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photo?[edit]

In comparison to the photos on the official website, I feel the current article photo doesn't convey the sheer massiveness of the sculpture. Anyone else agree, or have a better photo? --Myfanwy 29 June 2005 02:49 (UTC)

I actually came to this page to comment on the photo after seeing it on the Manchester page. I think the super-bright red car in the foreground is very distracting. I don't mean to criticise the photo's contributor since I think the photo is much better than no photo, but my hope would be that someone else could get another picture of this sculpture. (Also perhaps without some of the ground clutter like the "Sportcity" sign and the lampposts, but that may not be possible given the sculpture's size and proximity to the objects.) "As of January 2007, a safety fence still remains around the sculpture, and doubts about its long-term future are being expressed." Coordinates[edit]

It says in the Design section "The sculpture is located next to the City of Manchester Stadium at Sportcity, in Beswick, at the corner of Alan Turing Way and Ashton New Road,^[1]^[2] at coordinates 53°28′55″N 2°11′46″W / 53.48194°N 2.19611°W / 53.48194; -2.19611". First of all, there's nothing to say what relevance the location has to the design, and secondly, as the coordinates are given at the top of the article what's the point of giving them again in the design section? Height[edit]

Hello, I'm french. In this article, we may find that "B of the Bang was Britain's tallest sculpture at twice the height of the Angel of the North,[14] which stands at 66 feet (20 m). Bonjour, I'm English! Very good point, thanks for spotting it. The silly thing is that the text cites a newspaper article which does say that. However, as it seems it is simply wrong, and the figures are available anyway, I have been bold and added "well over" so the comparison still works but the ridiculous precision is removed.
