Guybrush is Ben McKenzie, an actor, comedian, writer and game designer who lives in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. He currently teaches creative writing at a variety of age levels, via 100 Story Building and the Australian College of the Arts (aka Collarts).

He is best known as co-creator of the time travel comedy audio series Night Terrace, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra between 2019 and 2022, in which he co-stars as "Eddie Jones" opposite Jackie Woodburne and Petra Elliott. He is also a podcast host and producer, best known for the Doctor Who anniversary celebration Splendid Chaps, and his current show, Pratchat, a monthly Terry Pratchett book club.

He designed pervasive and other live games with his company Pop Up Playground, including the live-action bank heist adventure Small Time Criminals (similar to, but distinct from, an escape room). More recently he was the leader writer for the VR videogame Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown, developed by Tin Man Games, and is currently working as a narrative consultant on Little Ruin from Lucernal.

He is not the Ben McKenzie on Gotham.

Nicknames[edit]

Guybrush Threepwood is the name of the protagonist and player character in the LucasArts adventure game The Secret of Monkey Island and its sequels, which are probably Ben's favourite computer games. He previously used the online nickname "Barrington", after the character played by Danny John-Jules in Tony Robinson's television series Maid Marian and her Merry Men (it is also an obscure reference to Red Dwarf).

Other wikis[edit]

Ben was a prolific collaborator to many wikis on fandom.com back in the Wikia days, and still contributes to some today.

He is an admin for the L-Space wiki, and runs his own wiki project, the Guild of Recappers & Podcasters, indexing the many Terry Pratchett podcasts.
