Dreamer[edit]

Where did he get that name from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Motaros (talkcontribs) 18:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When he went to Wrestlemania II he dreamed of going to Wrestlemania. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.105.53.39 (talk) 05:02, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Is this wrestler the same person as the actor who was in the Billy Jack movie series? Smerdis of Tlön 19:16, 7 Sep 2004 (UTC)

No, obviously not. Didn't see the birthdate. Smerdis of Tlön 22:06, 7 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Requested move[edit]

Laughlin has performed under the name "Tommy Dreamer" consistently since 1993, and it is the name he is best known by. Moving this page will allow for increased direct linking and will limit the need for redirects. McPhail 20:20, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Twin Girls[edit]

Does anyone know when the girls were born, i mean the date? All I know is they were born in 2004. (MgTurtle 18:26, 8 July 2007 (UTC)).[reply]

Comedy at Club 54[edit]

I was wondering where this information came from as I can't find anything to support it nor can I remember ever seeing him on the show.--Dezza2001 00:27, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Entrance Music[edit]

Tommy Dreamer actually used the song "Even Flow" by Pearl Jam for the begining stages of his ECW career when he came out using the suspenders. "Man in the Box" by Alice In Chains came a little bit after.

Tommy Dreamer's adult film appearance[edit]

Within the next 30 minutes, screenshots will be posted right here from Tommy Dreamer's appearance in "Whack Attack 5" to correspond to the source included in the article (of which I am independent).

Rydeen Bomb[edit]

when the editing lock comes off cn someone add the Rydeen Bomb to his list of signature moves. I hve seen him do it as few times and in the video telling where ECw will be he uses it

ECW World Title[edit]

Dreamer stated in the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD that he was pissed off at the time he won the the title because he wanted to go through ECW without winning the ECW World Title. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.54.154.25 (talk) 03:38, 26 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

A Signature Move[edit]

I feel that Dreamer's "Tree of Woe Dropkick" should be added. I don't see it as unsourced. (Rollinman 05:20, 16 July 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Yes, it should be added. It should also be added that he normally uses a weapon with it. (trash can, steel chair, etc.)

Lead links - third opinion.[edit]

Over the last couple of days there's been an edit war between myself and Endlessdan over creating wiktionary links in the article lead to the words heart and soul. The only comment he's made is "Tommy Dreamer is not the physical 'heart' or soul of ECW. It's a metaphor." but he has not replied to a comment on his talk page, so I'm seeking a third opinion.«»bd(talk stalk) 15:48, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously he, a person, is not the "physical heart" of a company, but the wiktionary article has the metaphor definition of both words. Were there a way to link directly to a specific definition, I'd do that, but there isn't. That doesn't make the links bad links.«»bd(talk stalk) 15:48, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm happy to offer a third opinion, I just want to clarify the issue. You are of the opinion that these words should be linked to at wiktionary, and another user wants them as simple text with no links? Jmfangio| ►Chat  16:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly.«»bd(talk stalk) 16:27, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

shrit[edit]

y does he always have a shrit on ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.1.250.99 (talk) 03:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If by "shrit" you mean "shirt", I believe he started wearing one after being caned repeatedly by The Sandman, which resulted in scars. --Smart Mark Greene (talk) 02:48, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name changed to Tommy Dreamer after IWCCW?[edit]

The article seems to be saying he changed his name to Tommy Dreamer after leaving IWCCW, but I used to watch him on IWCCW, and he was using the name Tommy Dreamer then. I can't be confusing it with the company the article mentions as being the place where he adopted the name, because I never saw any shows from that company,in fact I never even heard of that company before. I only ever saw him on IWCCW, as Tommy Dreamer, and then of course later on ECW. Problem is, I don't have citations needed to correct the article. But maybe someone else does.76.226.228.140 (talk) 22:28, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

June 6[edit]

I just noticed that One Night Stand(or as it now apparently is "extreme rules"), is on june 6. I'l add that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrpengo88 (talkcontribs) 06:29, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Forced Retirement?[edit]

Current article reads, "On the December 29 episode of ECW, Dreamer wrestled Zack Ryder and lost. If Dreamer was to lose the match then he would be (kayfabe) forced to retire from in-ring competition." A few problems that I see. I think it should be written as "wrestled Zack Ryder. If Dreamer was to lose the match then he would be (kayfabe) forced to retire from in-ring competition. Dreamer eventually lost to Ryder." The second problem I see is that he was never forced to leave in-ring competition. The stipulations were that he would voluntarily leave ECW. Technically, according to the stipulations laid out, he is able to wrestle for the WWE under the RAW or Smackdown brands, albeit, he is now released from the WWE. I would change it to read, "If Dreamer was to lose the match, then he would leave ECW." Supersox (talk) 22:25, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you wrestle against a gimmick?[edit]

Under "ECW Reunion" (I believe that was the heading) we have this sentence:

The angle ended with a six-person-intergender-tag team match at the pay-per-view where Dreamer, Funk, and Beulah McGillicutty lost to Edge, Foley, and the heel gimmick of Lita.

Can someone actually lose a wrestling match to a heel gimmick? This is confusing, but I'm not sure how to word it better. Any help? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yesitsraining (talkcontribs) 02:24, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping for consensus but received nothing. As such, I have either deleted the term "heel gimmick," or reworded the sentences it appears in. If this is sub-standard to anyone, feel free to edit, but please don't revert. One cannot wrestle against a heel gimmick, nor can a heel gimmick wrestle in a match. That is just wrong. I tried to reword it as well as possible. Thanks! "Yes...It's Raining" 03:53, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Tommy Dreamer[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Tommy Dreamer's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 23:03, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Resemblance to other notables[edit]

There are scattered sources which mention his resemblance to Ben Affleck. I realize I'm showing my age by saying the following, but my first impression of Dreamer was one of being a dead ringer for Peter Lupus. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 09:39, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

East Coast Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship[edit]

I removed the following from his Championships & Accomplishments:

  • East Coast Pro Wrestling
    • ECPW Heavyweight Championship (1 time, current)[1]

My reasoning is that while there is a decent source for the title change, I believe Cagematch could be in error on this occasion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdAYB5JpwA&t=70s

My concern is that someone may have interpreted this as a title change when officially it may not have been?

Tella has defended the title multiple times (https://www.cagematch.net/?id=8&nr=714&page=8) since Cagematch lists him as losing it to Dreamer (https://www.cagematch.net/?id=5&nr=1414).

Additionally, Tella's YouTube has a video of a match against Dreamer from this period where he lists it as a non-title match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdAYB5JpwA&t=70s&pp=ygUYdG9tbXkgZHJlYW1lciBlY3B3IHRlbGxh

ECPW have public title histories but they're out of date so not helpful here. I can't find any reference from ECPW to Dreamer winning the title either.

I'll contact them and Cagematch to see if anything can be clarified.

If anyone disagrees, please feel free to undo! Beltsfortheboys (talk) 02:30, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Got this reply: "Tommy is not and wasn’t ever hwt champion, the matches he won vs john tella were non title." (via Gino @ https://www.ecpw1.com/contact) and CageMatch have also amended the title history (https://www.cagematch.net/en/?id=1&nr=369350 / https://www.cagematch.net/en/?id=5&nr=1414) to reflect what's in the YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdAYB5JpwA&t=70s) Beltsfortheboys (talk) 01:25, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
