Amara[edit]

Oh God, I'm watching the dub. Save me! >.<;; The things I do for this page. Amara just said in the most monotone voice, "Hey there girlfriend, how are you doing? Shouldn't you be having a birthday party or something?" shouldn't this be put into variations? This is the Cinderella episode part 2. (Note that the modularization on Serena's voice is painful.) Amara also says Earth wrong... ^^;; Anyway, in the Amy swimming episode, it says and I quote... "You're here Amy. I'm glad you could make it. I hope my cousin Amara didn't force you." by Michelle This is significant because it's just before the episode where they are shown with Elza, making this a lie. I'm pretty sure that the original dub from the CN also inserted a long series of lines where Serena asks about their relationship, but they changed it for the DVD. Was anyone nuts devoted to the series enough to actually tape the second part of that episode? Anyway, the pain, the pain.. make it stop... --;; I'll add more as I fight my IQ staying the same. P.S. What the hell were the writers thinking when they had Amara say "Riddle me this Batman" in the Elza episode? than with "family" was added to this episode. Inexplicably the romantic looks are kept. Turning on subs helps. "Uranus Star power" instead of planet power was used. "Hit it Neptune" is used. All these script changes make a different impression of the characters. Sweets line was put in.. and milkshake was inserted... --;; --Hitsuji Kinno 04:59, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't you just love how they dubbed the dialog to be more "hip" and "cool"? The dub is, like, TOTALLY RAD!!!
-Also, if you need any help with dubbed episodes from S and SuperS, I can help because my DVDs are bilingual. I can force myself to watch them in English if I have to. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 07:14, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Moved your sig down so it wouldn't looked like I'm saying the above. ^^ And I must have been getting disillusioned with the dub by the time S came out, 'cause I don't think I taped any of it. I do feel your pain! Ganbatte!
Incidentally, "Riddle me this, Batman" is probably the best thing I have ever heard. Holy oh my gosh. That's gonna keep me giggling for like a week. --Masamage 09:58, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Either I'm bugging or everyone has become dubbies! XD Also they all say Uranus Wrong even in the dub! its You Ray Nus not Your a ness Lego3400: The Sage of Time 02:43, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, people say it differently in different parts of the continent. I'm frankly pretty glad they chose that pronunciation; it heads off any "Sailor Your Anus" jokes. x_X --Masamage 02:48, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a Senshi of a different Solar System... ^.^; -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 03:27, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Optimum is in Canada, so you never know, for Sailor Stars they might get someone to say Sailor Your Anus. (note that Sailor Stars is NOT out, nor probably never will be as long as Toei keeps the rights and wants to come to the US. Don't use this as a basis of a rumor.) I know you're praying for it so we can see fan fiction about this name switch. ^.~ --Hitsuji Kinno 03:52, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I bought my subbed version off of eBay. Though, the subtitles are a little off in some episodes. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 04:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

iv got that one with the same problem i used you-tube to see the missing subs i think its reliabul because it matches the rest of text Sailor cuteness 20:32, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interview with Megumi Ogata[edit]

  • [1] - She talks a bit about how shocking it was to play a gay character in a kids show. Putting here for safekeeping.- Malkinann 09:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is such a cool interview! :-D Can we make a reference to it in the article somehow? Raystorm 17:11, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Hi there. In the Variations section it says:

Like the other Outer Senshi, Haruka is sometimes considered colder and almost unfeeling, due to the anime's more fatalistic and grim additions to the original manga plot.

I don't really get this sentence. I believe the manga is way more grim than the anime, and Haruka less colder in the last one. Opinions? By the way, should we try to nominate this article for GA? I think it could pass. :-) Cheers! Raystorm 16:08, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that doesn't make sense. The manga's way darker. And I'd rather not nominate this article until Ami's is finished with its Peer Review--among other things, a lot of it needs to be rewritten and merged together so that the sections match hers. --Masamage 19:44, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okie dokie, will wait. :-) I've removed the 'due to the anime' part of the above sentence. What do you think about the 'arguably, her standoffishness is more pronounced in the anime' following sentence? I think it could be struck out too, or else modified. Raystorm 21:15, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The 'arguably' at least needs to go. Haruka is extremely severe and independent when she needs to be, but she's also extremely cheerful and outgoing. Certainly more overtly friendly than Michiru. It's why everyone gets crushes on her in defiance of their own sexual orientation. :P So I'm not sure that bit says what it needs to be saying. --Masamage 01:45, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, the word "arguably" has no place in encyclopedia articles. JuJube 01:54, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think in the dub there meaner to the girls in civelan like Michiru calling usagi meatball head and Haruka calling the girls names all the time ♥Eternal Pink-ready for love♥ 22:27, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haruka always calles Usagi "odango," even in the original. It's a term of endearment. --Masamage 22:33, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I meent michiru never callerd her it ♥Eternal Pink-ready for love♥ 10:46, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music Storage[edit]

A number of songs featuring Haruka's character have been released.[1]

In the original anime, Haruka had two character singles, one of which was not sung by Ogata Megumi due to the demands of her role as Shinji Ikari in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

From the musicals, sung by various actresses:

  • "Making for the Right"
  • "Chou bi! Uranus and Neptune."(duet with Sailor Neptune)
  • "Orleans no Sei Senshi - Uranus - Neptune no Uragiri" (Soldiers of Orleans - Uranus and Neptune's Betrayal)(duet with Sailor Neptune)
  • "Sailor War!"
  • "Broken Mobius"
  • "Harsh! Saint Cry!"(duet with Sailor Neptune)
  • "Destined Couple"
"Destined Couple" was also a duet with Sailor Neptune, and why is Sailor War! there, it was sung by all senshi besides Chibi-Moon and the Starlights and yet it is not listed for them.Yayamaya 02:22, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Globe Cracker???[edit]

Um... I don't know who put that as an alternate of "Uranus World Shaking", but Sailor Uranus NEVER called her attack "Globe Cracker" in the English adaptation, so I have removed it. ~ Fighter4luv 12:11, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I assumed it was in the SuperS movie, where all the other attack names are mangled even worse. I don't have access to that in English, though. --Masamage 16:56, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sailor Uranus does not yell out her attack phrase for "World Shaking!" in either the Japanese or English versions of the "SuperS" movie. As I recall, the Senshi/Scouts are trapped against a ledge on Badiane/Badiyanu's castle, then suddenly a yellow sphere of energy thrashes through the Bonbon Babies. So the attack was already performed before the girls caught sight of it. ^_^ I'm sad... I shouldn't know every scene of the movies off by heart, should I? :/ ~ Fighter4luv 14:21, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speculation alert![edit]

"Patron" could mean they have sponsors who fund Haruka's race car driving and Michiru's violin lessons, or it could be intended as a (humorous) reference to enjo kōsai - the English translation makes it unclear.

Should it be deleted? It sounds like the "could be" speculation plus it implies the characters are prostituting themselves. =P. A smaller note he delineation between manga and anim is a bit fuzzy, could it be organized a bit better so it's clear? --Hitsuji Kinno 15:18, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No objections? If not I'll remove it this weekend. --Hitsuji Kinno 13:44, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think that sentence can be removed completely. The fact that they have patrons and don't talk about is inherently wacky; following it up with a sentence that says "this is wacky" isn't really necessary. Especially with the speculation, which leaves out various other possibilities, such as Haruka not being serious and just trying to get a rise out of Michiru. For all we know, Queen Serenity sent the royal treasury to the future and the two of them just ended up with it. Or maybe Setsuna is their patron. --Masamage 17:12, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move to Sailor Uranus[edit]

Please be aware of the discussion at WP:SM about moving this article to the title Sailor Uranus. --Masamage 18:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus seems to have been reached, so here goes! I'll move it, then rewrite the lead, then clean redirects and such. --Masamage 02:23, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Friendship with Rei[edit]

Do Rei and Haruka really "become very close" in the manga? I don't remember that at all. --Masamage 15:05, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, not really. Only in the anime, as far as I remember (that ep with Yuichiro). In fact, in the Super S manga, when the Inner senshi lose their powers, I believe it's Pluto who inspires Rei. Raystorm (¿Sí?) 15:26, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. And since Haruka is friends with everybody in at least one episode, that seems pretty unimportant on its own. I'm gonna revert the addition. (I think it's Michiru who inspires Rei, though. Telling her to pull taut the bowstring in her soul and all.) --Masamage 19:27, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wasn't that in the anime, vs Neherenia? :P Anyway, it wasn't Uranus. Raystorm (¿Sí?) 21:24, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Unlikely, since I've never seen that part of the anime. o.o But I've got volume 12, and it looks like my memory was right. Uranus is the inspiration for Jupiter, though. --Masamage 22:06, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's in Stars, remember? Mars is a bit impressed with Neptune, and they are caught by one of the Neherenia-look-a-likes. :-P She tells Mars to shoot, blah blah blah (don't want to spoil it!). ;-) Raystorm (¿Sí?) 22:16, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I remember the fight but I dont remember her saying that could wikiqoute tell us? ♥Fighting for charming Love♥ 22:26, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
never mind I checked they don't sorry ♥Fighting for charming Love♥ 22:30, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Michiru says,"You two are good friends, just like Uranus and me."

Rei says"Don't compare us like that". During the battle with Nehelenia, Rei is impressed with Michiru as she has better "sense" than her. Also, Michru so calls "inspire" Rei to shoot her Flame Sniper so that they could rescue Usagi. I don't remember Haruka being close to Rei, only in one episode(Yuichiro one), but I'll check the manga later. This could just be a view of a person though.--Hanaichi 23:43, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alex?[edit]

This suggests that fan response was the reason why in the Mixx/Tokyopop translated manga, Haruka was swiftly named back to her original name instead of Alex - does anyone have any further information on it? Cos I think it would be cool to put it in the Reception section (once we get it running). -Malkinann (talk) 11:40, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've heard about the fan resistance being so strong that Tokyopop was forced to change the Outers names to their original. It should be somewhere on the net lol. I'll try finding out. --Hanaichi 12:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers - don't strain yourself, though - I think that link says enough if we can't end up finding any more. -Malkinann (talk) 07:50, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have scans of the english manga. They call her just Haruka in S, but when SuperS roles around they try makeing that her family name and giveing her the first name of Alex but they only use that name like 5 times, alternateing between calling her Haruka and Alex. The others aren't called the names they tried to give them much either. It seemed like two people were working on it or something. Lego3400: The Sage of Time (talk) 00:48, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gay bar?[edit]

In Radio drama in Japan there's a little gem which goes something like "in a drama CD, Haruka filled in at (was a hostess at?) a gay bar" - is this true, and if so, which drama CD? -Malkinann (talk) 07:50, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh haha let me find the track. Its somewhere in my harddrive....somewhere...I remember it though, vaguely. Its all from the Drama CD for Super.
Haruka no Fukou - Semari Kuru Hametsu no Yokan
The first drama track was about Haruka riding a motorbike, complaining she was late for her date with Michiru, and she suddenly knocks down this guy. She offers to recompensate by doing his job due to the guys broken leg, and ends up working at a fish store. Rei and Usagi comes across Haruka doing the job after they speculate about what kind of family did Haruka and Michiru come from (Michiru was said to be wealthy, Haruka from a Eddoko one). Some flustered scene happen, and at the end of the track Michiru says that Haruka is as charming working at a fish store.
The second drama track starts out with Haruka again riding her motorbike and ends up injuring another person. She has a sense of de ja vu. She then offers to recompensate again by doing the persons job, and the person is like all happy and stuff. Haruka then ask what the job is, and the person replies that he/she(can't tell lol) is a hostess at a gay bar. Haruka freaks out and a struggle happens with the guy, ending with the guy saying "Absolutely not!".
The third one takes place somewhere where Michiru and Haruka is. Haruka complains that day was such a nightmare (implying the place to be where Michiru and Haruka were suppose to meet, and all of the above events happen in the same day) and Michiru listens on the Haruka's questioning blah blah blah. Michiru then reveals she knows about Haruka working part time in the fish store and the gay bar, and says that its a pity that Haruka turned down the job because Michiru would continue drinking there (implying Michiru actually goes to gay bars) if Haruka continued to work then. Michiru ends the track with giggling after saying "No matter what you become, you will always be you and my feelings for you will never change" to Haruka.
So touching! *cries* lol. For full script of translation, go here. The website also put up some descriptions of the other tracks, so go here--Hanaichi 12:40, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, awesome! :D Thanks for the confirmation and summary! This kind of stuff makes me tempted to start a List of Sailor Moon albums... XD -Malkinann (talk) 23:22, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"trouble with popular men"[edit]

What does this mean? Does it mean she is troublesomely popular with men? Or that she's attracted to them? Or that she hates them? What's the line from the episode? --Masamage 03:54, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IIRC, it's the episode where they all eat at Usagi's house. I believe Usagi said she heard Haruka doesn't like men, and then Michiru says she doesn't like popular men. Haruka grumbles that neither is true; the subtext is she just doesn't like Seiya. JuJube (talk) 04:41, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prince Uranus[edit]

Do we have good enough sources to talk about all the insane Haruka's-gender rumors down in the Reception section? --Masamage 16:12, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The only source we really need is a waybacked version of SoS (Save our Senshi). They are the ones that started that idiotic theory. Lego3400: The Sage of Time (talk) 17:26, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we also need something academic saying that the "Prince Uranus" theory is notable... Martha Cornog and Timothy Perper say that Haruka is "dual gendered", which is interesting... -Malkinann (talk) 20:55, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's exactly what we'd need. And Takeuchi kind of talks about her as dual-gendered, too, so that is interesting. Could we add that ref to the part of the article that talks about that? Meanwhile, please keep an eye out for anyone talking about the Prince Uranus rumor. Or the Pop Tart campaign. :D --Masamage 21:49, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tenou or Tenoh[edit]

What is considered the correct spelling of Haruka's last name: Tenou or Tenoh? 71.175.51.67 (talk) 23:06, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Censorship, additional note[edit]

Ironically, it might be worth stating that even though the characters might be classified as cousins instead of a couple, this doesn't contradict each other in japanese culture to my knowledge. It is, or at least was, not unusual to date the own cousin. I know about this because I wondered about in the anime Elfen lied, where there is clearly indicated two characters are attracted to each other, but also cousins, so I checked back then. So, in summary, even though it might have been changed from the Japanese original in this case, being a cousin in Japan doesn't seem to be an excuse to not be a love interest to each other, unlike in western countries. 16:00, 5 September 2018 (UTC)16:00, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

Masculinity[edit]

I just noticed that in the Japanese dub of Sailor Moon Eternal, Sailor Saturn addresses Neptune and Pluto as "Mama" and Uranus as "Papa" ("Papa Haruka-San" or something). Not sure if it's noteworthy enough to be added to the article. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 23:06, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
