I recently made an edit, reverted by SchroCat, which removed the statement that Moss' family was Jewish. I replaced the sentence with a clarification that his paternal grandfather was Jewish, which so far as I can glean from the other sources available on this matter is the extent of his Jewish roots. The source for the claim (more of an implication really) that his entire extended family is Jewish is a single unsubstantiated sentence in the Jewish Chronicle's obituary, which also states that the family name was changed from Moses to Moss. The second part does indeed corroborate the well-established fact that his father was of Jewish descent, however this does not account for his mother (née Craufurd, a Scottish name). As I can find no other sources to support the suggestion that his mother was Jewish, I question the veracity of this statement and strongly suggest that we stick with the already well-founded consensus that his father was of Jewish descent on his father's side. I do not wish to engage in an edit war, so I'd like to resolve this in the talk page if possible before I restore my edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Icegrommet (talk • contribs) 21:59, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There are plenty of sources. The Guardian talks about Alfred Moss being a "descendant of a family of Ashkenazi Jews" [1], while Car and Driver states "Moss, whose mother was Scottish but whose father was (apparently) part Jewish".[2] There is no need to incorrectly infer that his entire family was Jewish. That's fine - feel free to make the changeswith the sources. The reason it was reverted first time is that Icegrommet changed the text without bothering to change the source, which is a no-no. In 1992, at Targa Tasmania, Moss was driving on the wrong side of the road in Bonneys Hill, Moriarty and crashed into Joy and Malcolm Murray as they were returning home. It took two hours to cut Joy Murray from the wreckage, and she spent nine days in hospital after receiving cuts around her eyes, temporarily blinding her. Malcolm Murray suffered permanent memory loss. Moss was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road.
