Even though I agree with your position in the Pope John Paul II article, the Wikipedia is supposed to be NPOV. Your edits were not neutral. Best wishes, keep editing. --Iusenospace 00:38, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps not, but I didn't appreciate the valuable info I put in being deleted wholesale just because of this. Palefire 02:13, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)

Tiger[edit]

Hi, concerning your remark on Talk:Tiger: the image Tiger.jpg came from commons.wikipedia.org. Wikipedia automatically takes the image from commons if no image exists on en.wikipedia.org. Now someone uploaded the image Tiger.jpg (MaxOS X logo) to en.wikipedia.org and this means that the software now takes the image from en instead of the one from commons. Hope this helps. -- mkrohn 15:57, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC) P.S. not sure how to avoid these situations though

Thanks for clarifying that. Palefire 04:02, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:MTS, Cheboksary.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MTS, Cheboksary.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 22:22, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd forgotten to put the GDFL tag on that one. Have now done so. Palefire 00:10, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know about Wikimedia Commons? This is a special project where we upload our images. They will be available automatically for all other Wikipedia projects, in English, German, Spanish, etc. No need to reupload your image when someone wants to use it in ru.wiki or de.wiki. An added benefit is that your images are sometimes redundant here, because Wikipedia is not an image gallery (see: WP:NOT) and the images should illustrate the text, not the other way. Cheers, Ghirla -трёп- 13:50, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just read your comments on Talk:Vologda. Wikimedia Commons is a "quieu" you were talking about. I uploaded dozens images of Moscow and Kostroma to Commons and recommend you the same. --Ghirla -трёп- 14:05, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid no. You should log in and upload each photograph individually. Happy edits, Ghirla -трёп- 13:20, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zebra pictures[edit]

I noticed that you commented on the Talk:Zebra page a while back, and I wonder if you might be willing to share your opinion on the last topic on the page. I like my pic better, but the other author likes theirs. What do you think? Lunkwill 06:27, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, hers is useless. Palefire 14:54, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Elisabeth F[edit]

I have redirected your article to Elisabeth Fritzl, an existing article about the same case. JohnCD (talk) 21:30, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:First_page_of_war_and_peace.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:36, 26 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 01:36, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Selina Hakki[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Selina Hakki, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Orphan. Not notable crime report posing as a BLP.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi! I'm sorry since I'm pretty new in editing pages in WP, but it seems to me that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badoo is affected by modification wars, mainly because of their spam. I writed my views in the comment/talk page, and wish you could keep up the warning of this spam for others to see too.. --81.197.76.159 (talk) 01:28, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Please attribute or claim media you uploaded or restored: File:MTS, Cheboksary.JPG[edit]

You uploaded or restored , File:MTS, Cheboksary.JPG, but for various reasons did not add an {{information}} block, or indicate your (user) name on the file description page. Media uploaded to Wikipedia needs information on the SPECIFIC authorship and source of files, to ensure that it complies with copyright laws in various jurisdictions.

If it's entirely your own work:
please include {{own}} in the relevant source field, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, ensuring that your user name (or name you want used for attribution) is clear in the author field, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant (if such a license is not already used). You should also add an |author= parameter to the license tag, to assist reviews and image patrollers.

When you have copmpleted the above steps: to indicate that you've accepted the given the license shown, and updated the file description page appropriately.

If it's not entirely your own work, or the media is based on the work of others:
Please update the source and authorship fields, so that they accurately reflect the source and authors of the original work(s), as well as the derivative you created. You should also not use a "self" license unless the work is entirely you own. Media that is incorrectly claimed as self or {{own}}, will eventually be listed at Files for Discussion or deleted, unless it's full status is entirely clear to other contributors, reviewers and image patrollers. You should also read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission which details how to confirm any permissions you obtained for works by others that are still in copyright.

Whilst this notification, relates to a single media upload, it would also be appreciated if you could ensure that appropriate attribution exists for other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If media is not claimed, and there's no other obvious source or authorship information, the file may have to be removed for copyright reasons.

It's okay to remove or strike messages like this once the concerns have been addressed. :). ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 15:14, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:MTS, Cheboksary.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MTS, Cheboksary.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
