Quality of this Page[edit]

  • Whoa there. I don't understand why we need to list our whole bell schedule and everything... wikipedia is an encylopedia, not a directory of fun facts. Why don't we just cut this article down to the information someone might care about besides students - that we're a model for Charter Schools around the country. Also, why on earth would we list all the "good colleges" that our alums are at? Even the worst high schools have alumni at every one of those schools.
  • I attend this school and know some of the article's editors including the one who wrote the Curriculum section. I was surprised to learn that so much effort went into the entry and that it was not just copied off of the school's official website. Additionally, it was written by several students and other Wikipedians, not the teachers or administration. Good job in getting this school such a great Wiki entry, guys! --R6MaY89
    • This article still could use some work, but it's better than most school articles. The work was done by various Wikipedians, some of whom (like myself and GRider, ) have absolutely nothing to do with the school, but wanted to make sure the article wasn't deleted. See WP:SCH for the WikiProject School main page. Cheers. --BaronLarf 20:53, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

Lists, lists, lists[edit]

EC Lists[edit]

  • I would like to see the copious lists removed, and replaced with a paragraph-by-paragraph write-up of some of the clubs and their notable accomplishments. My rationale for asking for this is that the same list (with a few modifications) can be seen at the official school site, and also because the page is large and rather unwieldly. Would anyone have objections? As well, on an unrelated tangent, would someone be interested in taking a picture of the school? I think an image might not be a bad idea. AustinZ 21:11, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • I agree with these comments. I will work to get some pictures taken, but I have never uploaded pictures to Wikimedia before so I may need some help. As far as the clubs write-ups, I think this will be a very difficult task to do accurately without help from the actual clubs (which isn't likely to happen). It will look unbalanced to have only some clubs have descriptions, so I am on the fence with this proposal.--R6MaY89 02:47, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • I see what you're saying. The club members can edit the pertinent sections themselves if need be. The lists are just ugly and don't tell a visitor anything about the school- I mean, how many schools have a football team? As well, most of the other well-done school pages have paragraph-format write-ups. Look at Stuyvesant or TJ, for example.AustinZ 12:38, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Suggest you do the same thing for the clubs- list of clubs that can be easily updated (and please, let's ditch the ones that are dead/have been dead for a while, they can always be added back in if reactivated), and have a clubs write-up (for example, talk a bit about Academic Bowl, Science Olympiad, Mock Trial, Math League, HiMCM, etc. AustinZ 03:32, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Done, but Zoe has placed a merge recommendation on the page. I don't think a merge is necessary. Any other opinions?--R6MaY89 04:35, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Faculty Lists[edit]

  • I think that it is rather unnecessary (not to mention hideous) to list all of the faculty members. Perhaps we could instead list the major course areas and show the faculty in parenthesis? Does anyone have an opinion on this?--R6MaY89 00:05, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Since no one seems to care, I'll take care of it.--R6MaY89 02:56, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I created a new subpage for faculty.

Well, both lists have been deleted so I guess this argument is moot. Any ideas for how to determine which teachers and clubs are notable enough to have a few sentences on the main page? --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 20:03, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to recommend that only the clubs that have won major awards within the past year be placed on the front page/mentioned. --Lakhim 01:24, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

  • Though the logo is not as elaborate as that of other schools, we should put it up anyway. I couldn't find a quality image online with a transparent background, so I think I will create one. What font do you think the CSW should be? TimesNewRoman? --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 03:26, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • I put a picture of the school instead. Is that okay for now? --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 23:09, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • When did the logo become elongated? Is that a temporary thing while they have that 10-year-anniversary banner? Raul654 07:46, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
        • Yes. I think the logo works as is, however, if it needs to be changed, instead of making a new one someone should just cut the hexagon out of the 10th-anniversary banner. Or I could ask Mr. Saggione. For some reason, I doubt the utility or merit of making one from scratch, even if the logo in question is very simple. AustinZ 16:01, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
        • It's not the official logo, just one that is being used by the school for the website this year. I think we should show the real hexagon-only logo instead, and that we should get an exact copy from the school or atleast the official specifications (font type, for instance). I liked the picture of the school building being at the top, but it doesn't really matter. --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 16:45, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
          • Being the packrat that I am, I might be able to dig up an old copy of the logo. Raul654 18:40, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
            • Ok, I dug up an old copy of the logo (circa 1999-2000), scanned it, and put it here [1]. The quality isn't terrific (seeing as how the original source was only about an inch square), but it should suffice to allow someone to create an SVG. To my knowledge, the rainbow isn't part of the standard logo, so that should be omitted. Raul654 18:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
              • I used your image to recreate it. I don't have SVG software, so it's in PNG. I uploaded it to the commons and it is now on the main page. If you have recommendations, I can implement them. --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 22:40, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
                • (1) Inkscape is your friend. (2) The png shown here is good. Raul654 23:51, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
                  • Thanks, I'll update the article page with the SVG file. --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 04:37, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
                    • The logo seems to be to be too narrow. The hexagon in the current logo is definitely not a regular hexagon...can that be fixed? AustinZ 02:31, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
                      • It can easily be fixed, but look at the hex on the CharterSchool.org page; it's not regular afaik. I'll make a new one and present it. --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 03:49, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
                      • Okay, check it out. What do you think? Does the outer border need to be thicker? --ʀ6ʍɑʏ89 04:13, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
                      • The new one looks good, but it's still showing up as the old, narrow one on the page...I'll clear my cache and see if that fixes it.AustinZ 05:44, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have purged the Wikimedia caches - that might help. Raul654 05:45, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yep, that did the trick. Isn't it nice knowing competent admins? :)AustinZ 05:46, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blank Space[edit]

There is a lot of blank space at the top between the menu and the infobox. Is there anything that you can do about this? It is sort of annoying.

Phases[edit]

I'm pretty sure that all phases are considered "college prep", and phase five is considered "honors", not phase five college prep, four honors. It may also be useful to explain what phase six is considered in that section, as it currently goes from 3-6, but only 4 and 5 are explained. --68.44.212.180 01:19, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced[edit]

I removed the following, as it appears to be written without regard for WP:NPOV and WP:RS:

It has occupied this space since its inception. This has been an issue because the agreement allowing them to do so does not charge fair market value rent for the space. This uses public school funds from the Red Clay Consolidated School District to supplement Charter's existence. This was a finding by the Auditor of the State of Delaware.

I also removed the following, which has been unreferenced for over a year:

Charter continually comes first in many state academic competitions including Math League and Science Olympiad, as well as sending many students to All State Band, Orchestra, and Choir.[citation needed] Charter students continually score high on the Delaware Standardized Test Program every year, leading the State statistics with the most students scoring a 5 (the highest grade on the test) in several subjects including Math and Science.[citation needed]

"Overall, the scandal had a negative impact on the reputation and the politics of the school board.[citation needed]" This quote seems to be subjective, so barring someone finding proof that this is the case, I think it should be dropped from the article.
