Note that "terrestrial" has another related meaning, roughly "of dirt" or similar. See Terrestrial planets, which are, obviously, not all Planet Earth, but only of similar mineral composition. -- April

That seems to also be the use in terrestrial ecoregions, since they too are dirt, if by that we mean earth plus fresh water.

Since "terrestrial" is the more common English word with the many meanings, we should probably keep non-sci-fi-ish meanings over there, and keep the "Terran" article with the content since it has this legitimate political meaning (that say "earthling" doesn't have).

I wonder if "Cosmist" has another meaning too? I'll go see... but there is obviously a Terran vs. Cosmist debate in real life, as evidenced by people like Hugo De Garis and Bill Joy. I don't know if there is a "terrestrial versus not" debate in real life, unless you are talking to someone who landed in a UFO. 24

It'ld be nice to have a citation for 1953's revolution in meaning.
