Untitled[edit]

ok this is how facebook friend request happen, one day I had respond to something on facebook for my daughter-in-law, next thing you know, my sweetheart's EX shows up on my fb because she responded to the same acticle. NEXT THING I KNOW, she pops up as a friend request because we had friends in common

Picture Used[edit]

Someone needs to change the image used for her. If it wasn't put up to purposely make her look gross/weird, it was unintentionally a terrible choice of image, something extremely unflattering and a poor representation of what she usually looks like. I would change it but I'm not experienced with adding images to Wikipedia or knowing what images can be used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tigerpawraw (talkcontribs) 02:18, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Supprised that photo was up for so many years. I even thought it was a recent act of vandalism -Schistocyte (talk) 17:28, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Farewell[edit]

does anyone have a copy or link of the statement made by meredith on the view when she annocued she would be joining today in march? i would really appreciate it. thanks.

Bias[edit]

Should Meredith Vieira's bias have it's own section? There are several reporters and commentators who have their own section releted to bias such as Bill O'reilly and Keith Oberlmann. With some of her statements and actions over the past few years showing her bias should she have a more developed section explaining this? I won't change anything untill I get some feed back. NewsMax[edit]

I'm not sure that NewsMax is a credible source for Meredith Vieira's point of view regarding President Bush or other political issues. Does anyone have other sources from NPOV about her political leanings11:47, 8 April 2006 (UTC))

NewsMax certainly isn't a NPOV source. Unless we can find an unbiased source to cite, this passage should be removed. (Danielross40)

Gay Icon Project[edit]

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 22:19, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Trivia: Allergic to metal??[edit]

The trivia section as presently claims Vieira is allergic to metal and "never wears jewlery" (sic). Yet, the photo in the article shows her wearing an earring. Any credible source for the allergy claim? --Onyourside 19:58, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the earring isn't made of metal ... ? HeyNow10029 00:26, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've never heard of anyone being allergic to all metals. Think about it. Crunch 00:27, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I searched the web and found no source for the quote that she's allergic to metal, except for a) copies of the Wikipedia article, and b) an un-attributed statement in the trivia section of her IMDB bio. In a Google image search on her name, I found multiple photos with her wearing jewelry, including this photo of her wearing a ring. So I've removed the statement from the article about never wearing jewelry (demonstrably false) and being allergic to metal (no credible source). --Zippy 04:42, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Update - found a cite . It doesn't say she's allergic to metal, just that wearing a ring gives her a skin reaction (this doesn't necessarily mean she's allergic to it). --Zippy 04:58, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Accused?=[edit]

I don;t care about any section exploring any sort of bias in objective reporting, but what's with this language of "NewsMax accuses someone of being a liberal because of X and Y". Very off-putting, I think, someone being "accused" by an organization because of their beliefs. In any case, it's my impression that the View was a show where the women can editorialize on different issues, not a news reporting show.

I actually agree, but the NewsMax reference was reinserted a few times as fact rather than opinion. I thought that this was a rather acceptable compromise, but have no problem with the reference being taken out. Danielross40 17:20, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's beliefs at issue and not media bias, amirite BonniePrinceCharlie 17:45, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced statement[edit]

It was stated here that Meredith was slated to take over as host of The Price Is Right after Bob Barker retires, but I have found absolutely nothing to substantiate that. Therefore, I deleted that comment.

this doesn't even rise to level of notable trivia[edit]

Why do we have the wedding ring, underwear and panty hose items here? Is this encyclopedic? Do we also have boxers or briefs for Matt Lauer? Just because something can be sourced, does not make it notable, even in a trivia section. Tvoz | talk 18:52, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at it more closely, the trivia section was full of unimportant items and items that appeared elsewhere in the article. I removed the repetition and unnotable stuff and incorporated the notable stuff into the appropriate sections of the article, which is now organized more logically. I think we should stay away from such trivia sections in bios of professional people - Wikipedia isn't a gossip sheet. Tvoz | talk 19:19, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wrong DOB[edit]

Her birthdate was changed from 1953 to 1951, when in reality it IS 1953 (as stated on IMDB, NNDB and other sites), so I changed it back.

Why were the links removed?[edit]

Could someone please explain why the links were removed? I see no reason for them not to be included on this page.

Request semi-protect??[edit]

Requesting a semi-protect for 7/16/07. Unfunny vandalism.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Howtoeatawatermelon (talkcontribs) 12:01 17 July 2007 (UTC)

WP:RPP is where to make such a request, but the problem doesn't seem sufficiently severe at this time. Of the two IP vandals from today, one has been warned. Is the "pet" info false? If so, the other IP vandal should get a warning as well. / edg 12:12, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contestant on Millionaire[edit]

I found 2 YouTube videos that show Meredith's appearence on Millionaire! Here are the 2 URLs.

[1] [2]

I'd rather have you put the 2 links into the article than myself because everytime I put in an internet source (and it's NOT spam), it gets reverted automaticaly!--70.240.215.204 (talk) 21:31, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Chris[reply]

That's because there's a faction of editors on Wikipedia who don't want any You Tube videos ever posted because they may not be stable and may not be reliable, and could be copyright violations. I personally think they should be evaluated individually, because you can't make a blanket statement about You Tube as if it's all one thing or another. BUt that discussion is for somewhere else. I suspect the ones you're mentioning would be pulled for copyright - and after all, do they really add anything? Thanks for posting here on talk, though, instead of edit warring - that's appreciated. Tvoz/talk 21:41, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Even without the YouTube videos, the Millionaire (US) article does mention Meredith's appearance and that her $250,000 earnings were donated to a 9/11 fund. I just added the link for verification purposes. Glenn L (talk) 05:52, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't know who Tim Berners-Lee is?[edit]

During her coverage of the Olympic opening ceremony she stated that she didn't know who Sir Tim Berners-Lee is. As a professional broadcater who might be expected to know who created the World Wide Web, does this warrant inclusion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.120.50 (talk) 12:21, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say that yes it does, but it needs to be worded carefully so it doesn't make her out to be a simpleton. It's as much a criticism of NBC as one of her. There are numerous sources to back up an addition:
  • The Guardian[3]
  • Huffington Post[4]
  • The Observer[5]

Chaheel Riens (talk) 13:31, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As it seem the NBC article dedicated to their olympic coverage already has a fairly heady criticism section - not just dedicated to the 2012 Olympics - it doesn't seem out of place to include a comment here. I've balanced it so that we're not just accusing her of being at fault, but that NBC have come under fire for their corporate performance as well - albeit represented by Vieira. Chaheel Riens (talk) 10:09, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh please; if she's a simpleton, she's a simpleton. Nothing wrong with calling out ignorance of a supposedly college-educated person. 98.10.165.90 (talk) 22:22, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
