Untitled[edit]

I am unclear of the distintion between Washington Park and Washington Park Arboretum. I grew up nearby and it was all known as The Arboretum. Also I am unclear as to the neighborhood boundaries as Wikipedia's do not seem to match those given by the City Clerk's neighborhood maps. I'm just looking for direction.

Hi there, I grew up nearby too, at 34th and Mercer. The Arboretum is most of the park, but the playfield is not technically part of the Arboretum, as it is run by the city, not the UW. However, after a lot of thrash, I've decided that your original solution to just have one article makes the most sense, but I've modified it and expanded it somewhat. As for neighborhood boundaries, don't go by the City Clerk's atlas. You'll notice the main page says specifically the divisions are for administrative purposes. Washington Park is definitely not in Capitol Hill, for example, and nobody calls "Mann" or "Minor" by those names. Wikipedia's divisions are far more accurate. --Lukobe 06:44, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Dates[edit]

Richard C. Berner, Seattle 1900-1920: From Boomtown, Urban Turbulence, to Restoration, Charles Press, 1991, ISBN 0962988901 p.101 says Washington Park was obtained by the city in 1900. Parks and Recreation says the same. Is there a citation for the 1920 date in this article?

Also, does anyone have a date for when the arboretum was started (presumably later than the park itself). - Jmabel | Talk 19:26, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

David B. Williams, Olmsted Parks in Seattle -- A Snapshot History, HistoryLink, May 10, 1999, says the arboretum is 1941. Any reason to think otherwise? I've cited that in Seattle Parks and Recreation. - Jmabel | Talk 19:34, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since it has been several days and no one is answering my query, I am adding a {{contradict-other}} template. - Jmabel | Talk 17:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Highway construction impact" plans are complete/outdated[edit]

There's discussion of competing plans and concern with the impact of highway construction, with references dating back to ~2008. Construction is now complete; can anyone summarize what ended up happening and/or the effects? --Fhocutt (talk) 20:04, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
