What is a chance of an amateur space trackers being able to pick a signal from a classfied satellite? Wouldn't that destroy the whole concept of secret? Something that would be interesting to know is, can these satellite change obit once in a while to avoid consistancy? If so, how do they sastain their fuel that long, assuming the 1990 satellite is still operational? Very cool stuff, i would really like to know how a satellite can remain in space for decade without all the other developed countries having a clue. Is there anyone who can read Russian to help see whether we can find more technical information from the magazine washington post quoted here. "Circumstantial evidence of that satellite's existence was outlined in the April issue of a Russian space magazine, Novosti Kosmonavtiki. According to a translation for The Washington Post, the article suggested that a satellite launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California in 1999 may be the second-generation Misty craft and noted that the satellite was put into orbit along with "a large number of debris," a likely deception method."
