Talk:Roy Campbell (Metal Gear)

Recently, another Wikipedia user has been editing this article, claiming that Raiden tells Otacon (not Otakon) that Campbell was killed in his home during the events of MGS2. However, this is not true. The only thing that Otacon tells Raiden is that the Colonel's transmissions comes from Arsenal Gear. Most likely, the editor was confusing Miller's death in MGS1 (who was indeed killed in his home) as having happened to Campbell. Here's a transcript of the game.

Otacon     : Raiden? About this Colonel of yours -- I found out where he is.

Raiden     : Where?

Otacon     : Inside Arsenal.

Raiden     : ?

Otacon     : I've checked out all the possibilities, but I keep coming back to
            Arsenal. It isn't a relay point, it's the origin of the signal.
            And, the encryption protocol it uses is exactly the same as that
            of Arsenal's AI -- the so-called GW.

Raiden     : ...What the hell does this mean?

Otacon     : I think it means -- you've been talking to an AI.

Raiden     : That's impossible!

Otacon     : The Colonel probably isn't GW per se. GW was most likely
            stimulating cortical activity in the dormant part of your brain
            through signal manipulation of your own nanomachines. The Colonel
            is in part your own creation, cobbled together from expectations
            and experience...

Raiden     : That's crazy...

Otacon     : But it's probably the truth. The virus may be starting to affect
            GW, which would explain the Colonel's behavior.

Raiden     : It was all -- an illusion? Everything I've done so far...?

Snake      : Raiden!

Raiden     : Snake -- what's happening around here?

Snake      : I don't know. What I do know is that you're standing right here
            in front of me. Not an illusion -- flesh and blood. It's your
            call. You can drop this if you want.

Raiden     : No, I can't do that. Let's go...

Colonel AI is Based upon Cambell[edit]

On this page it is clamed taht the AI Colonel only held a likeness to the Colonel Cambell from previous Games! Yet according to a conversation held between Raiden and the Colonel, Raiden remembers reading about "you" (the Colonel) and "Solid Snake" in the book "In the darkness of Shadow Moses" Would this not imply Raidne was fiven the impression this was the same Colonel? -- The Pain

Pardon me, but what the hell are you trying to say? That the article claims that the AI Colonel is nothing like the real Colonel? Please rewrite this and I can post a proper response.

Chicken Fox Designation[edit]

Where did this piece of information come from? I was under the impression Gray Fox was the only FOXHOUND Member to ever recieve the Fox Designation! --The Pain 12:47, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

His previous Chicken Fox codename was mentioned in the manual for Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (the original MSX2 version), the game which first introduced Campbell. Jagged 20:31, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the way the Campbell pictures from 1999 were, the old way looked sloppy and crap the long explanation wasn't needed either for each picture (The Bread 04:36, 17 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]
