Layout[edit]

I've made a couple of small changes to bring the layout closer to Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline. If no one objects I will do more of this. Kendall-K1 (talk) 14:03, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677: I don't understand your recent moves. I had put libraries in "Arts and culture," which is where WP:USCITIES says it belongs, and put "Medical facilities" at the end of "Infrastructure," which is again what the guideline suggests. If you think yours is a better layout, I won't argue, but it does seem to be taking us farther away from the guideline. Kendall-K1 (talk) 01:52, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Kendall-K1. No comment on the question of today, but as someone who is pretty intimate with the history of this here city, I have a request. There seems to be entirely too much emphasis on the Jackson's, and that to me seems a violation of WP:RECENT. Gary has been the home of many, many celebrities, and much more happened there in its relatively short history than its decline. I unfortunately cannot do much research, but I'll be glad to point you to potential sources. Drop me a note sometime. John from Idegon (talk) 06:46, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Kendall-K1: I should give WP:USCITIES a closer read. My apologies. Magnolia677 (talk) 09:50, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gary/Hammond Barrier[edit]

I am considering writing a section on the Gary/Hammond barrier where 9th ave turns into 165th St. There are many articles from the Chicago Tribune and even one from the New York Times from the late 80s on this topic. Is this appropriate? Jhojnack (talk) 18:30, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That would be hard to say without seeing either the sources or your edit. Suggestion, Jhojnack: BEBOLD! Make your edit with your sources properly formatted. If anyone objects to it, they will revert it. Then you come here per WP:BRD and discuss it civilly until a CONSENSUS is reached. I'll leave some info on your talk page to help. Western Most Gateway to the Indiana Dunes National Park[edit]

Hello all I am Christopher Harris, director of Redevelopment for the City of Gary. There's an editor (Magnolia677) that is making false accusations that the Indiana Dunes National Park is not located in Gary. That is absolutely misinformation to the highest degree, please reference any official National Park Service map or any map for that matter. The mayor and I three weeks ago had a very positive conversation with the Indiana Dunes National Park Rangers who are great partners with the city of Gary to install more trailhead branded signage in Gary reinforcing the park's presence in as the parks western most gateway in Downtown Gary which wraps around the westside Lake Street Beach. As a representative of the City of Gary, I'd like it to be known who I am in this space and have the ability to share Gary's truth... Outside of this recent virtual skirmish, I appreciate how users have incrementally enhanced the quality of Gary's page. I would like to pull together/share detailed graphics regarding Gary's blight to provide readers greater depth of context to the extent of Gary's blighted core which is concentrated in Midtown and acute on Gary's East Side.
