Carrington Hospital[edit]

Carrington Hospital should be in there as a defunct pshyciatric unit. Dramatic — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.89.81.159 (talk) 20:55, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps better divided by region? That way we can see what's missing (e.g. Dunedin hospitals)Grutness

Public versus Private[edit]

Should we create a single list for Public Hospitals, and leave the region grouping for the Private ones? James Pole

Rationalisation of Auckland DHB Services[edit]

I just tidied up Greenlane as it has not been an inpatient service for some time now. That meant of course that 'National Womens' needed clarifying. Both National Womans and Starship were/are specialist units within hospital complexes, so have tried to show that. (Ntl Womens is now a service of ACH but used to be a stand alone building, which Starship still is) but now it seems to be getting a bit messy. Greenlane has played significant roles in NZ's health history and so I feel should be retained, even though no longer an inpatient hospital. Also, I have no idea of simlarities in other centres.

So my questions are; if there are no inpatient services, or day surgery only, is it still a hospital and if the "hospital" is part of a larger hospital complex, should it be listed. Another matter is that Acute Inpatient Mental Health hospitals seem to be not listed (at least for Akkers anyway). I feel they should be.

I will take the guidence on both of these matters from your responses. Cheers L-Bit 23:19, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Extensive revision of lists[edit]

I have added quite a few facilities to all regions and adjusted Auckland DHB.

I have also flagged some facilities as Private and some others as Mental Health. There are more to flag, but my list is out of date and I need to go on to the NZ Health Information Service website to find the latest list.

Some of the Private facilities on this list are Nursing Homes for the elderly and I wonder if they should be in this list at all or whether they can be dropped.

I also wonder if it would be useful to indicate which facilities belong to which District Health Board. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 01:47, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All useful suggestions, Beeswaxcandle, but I am afraid this article doesn't have many regular editors. Resources are limited, even on Wikipedia. Personally, I am of the opinion anyway that we should concentrate on articles on major hospitals (of which many still don't have any) rather than on trying to get this list complete and up to date. Cheers and happy editing. Ingolfson (talk) 07:25, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging 'List of hospitals in New Zealand' and 'Category: Hospitals in New Zealand'[edit]

Somehow we've ended up with two lists of hospitals in New Zealand, under the two titles listed above. I don't know how to fix this (I only know basic Wikipedia editing) but I think it should be changed. Neither list is complete, and they are different to make it even worse.

Does anyone out there know how best to proceed? I'll put a post on the other talk page (Talk: Category: Hospitals in New Zealand) linking to this one.

  • Although they are both used for navigation, Lists and Categories serve different purposes on Wikipedia and therefore this is not a content fork. A Category only contains the articles that have been written that relate to the Category. A List contains items that don't yet have articles. It isn't possible to merge a List and a Category. In fact you will note that this list is part of the Category, but the Category is not part of the List. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 07:51, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
