Renominations to VfD[edit]

At Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy#Proposed new rule: No repeat submission of articles, you raised the concern that the poll was not well structured for people's actual votes. I've proposed a revote in a different format. I'd appreciate your comments and changes before people start really using the table. Rossami 14:48, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Deletion policy, and your Village Pump comment[edit]

You commented on the Village Pump that people might delete articles like the ones you wrote. Don't worry about it. I've never seen anything like that ever get deleted. If some idiot nominates it, it'll get voted down. Remember, you need at least 80% majority to get something deleted, which in practice, means that anything that has any support won't be.

It's easy to confuse what gets NOMINATED for deletion with what actually gets deleted, which is very little.

Basically, any article which is true and not just a stub is unlikely to be deleted. We just want to remove accounts of totally non-notable people; we're not a genealogical database. If someone did ANYTHING of note, they're probably worth putting in Wikipedia. We also default to inclusion. —Morven 22:13, Sep 29, 2004 (UTC)

Double voting.[edit]

I've noticed that you've cast double votes in The Logged in Trolls vote, The GNAA vote, and Wikipedia_talk:Deletion_policy#Yes (votes #13 and #27). I know some other people have already commented on this on those pages, but nonetheless thought that it should be brought to your attention directly -- please be careful not to do this again in the future. - RedWordSmith 02:06, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

A thousand thank yous to User:RedWordSmith for bringing to my attention a most heinous offense. I voted twice in several polls over the past few days. I can only kneel before you, proclaiming ten thousand appologies, and throw myself on the mercy of the Wikipedia, pleading insanity. In my defense, I submit that anyone wanting to subvert the voting process would be careful not to vote twice with their own name. Only an idiot who was unable to keep track of which polls he had voted on already would make such a transparent and shamefull error. I recant. Yours, in contrition, Intrigue 15:50, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Sigh... In my defense, I did assume that this was accidental. - RedWordSmith 16:36, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Stephen Bishop[edit]

E=MC2 and units[edit]

Hi Intrigue. Thank you for your response, but wasn't sure how to go about posting on the reference desk re the E=MC2 and SI units. Please post there if you know how to. As far as the SI units being used for the equation, it seems impossible to me that a fundamental physical law could relate so exactly like that unless the units themselves were made to conform to the law, which of course they could have been. Still SI comes from metric, and metric pre-dates Einstein, so I am perplexed. jimaginator Don't know how to add the date and time!

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Ikat[edit]

Thanks for you contribution of an Ikat photo. I'm wondering what the source of the photo is. Is it a photo of an Ikat you own? If it is, I'm wondering if you know for certain that it is from Lombok, or if you bought it in Lombok? I'm not familiar with Ikat from Lombok. The Ikat in the photo looks to me like it is from Flores. Thanks. --Samuel Wantman 11:28, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Hi. I notice that you voted keep for this article. I urge you to take a look at my analysis on the deletion page and perhaps reconsider based on the fact that this article may be misnamed original research. Indrian 06:37, Dec 29, 2004 (UTC)

As of March 25, 2005, there are an additional (6) articles listed for deletion under the POV notion that schools are non-notable (even though this is invalid reasoning as per the Wikipedia deletion policy). Please be aware that the following schools are actively being discussed and voted upon:

In response to this cyclical ordeal, a Schoolwatch programme has been initiated in order to indentify school-related articles which may need improvement and to help foster and encourage continued organic growth. Your comments are welcome and I thank you again for your time. --GRider\talk

Troll[edit]

Presumably the troll is still banned according to the decree of you-know-who. It would take an immense amount of effort to even have a chance at overturning that. Everyking 18:40, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Guttlekraw[edit]

I would appreciate it if you would spell my name correctly when replying to me or on my talk page. Regarding your comments on my talk page, this is not "my revert war" as you put it, but a revert war conducted by Guttlekraw across many articles. Extensive discussion has occurred on talk pages for quite some time, all to no effect, with Guttlekraw coming off as a troll who engages in personal attacks, assuming bad faith, misleading edit summaries, and making false accusations. There was no discussion by myself on R2-D2 as my revert was made in reference to talk comments made by 67.101.113.10. I suggest you do a little more research on Guttlekraw before reverting. He refuses to follow policies and has repeatedly engaged in reversions of conensus article versions. Compomises and discussions have all had zero effect. His removal of content on Drug abuse and Francis Ford Coppola are part of his campaign to redefine and remove the definition of drug abuse, so he is certainly not editing in good faith nor adhering to NPOV. Further, I have asked for multiple, cited definitions to be posted to Drug abuse, but all he does is remove the medical definition, and replace it with a disputed definition that has been covered on talk, and then he accuses me of removing definitions! Guttlekraw is a troll, who causes major disruptions on articles, and has not engaged in any collaborative editing, other than reverts. --Viriditas | Talk 23:24, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for help[edit]

I am asking for help as I am running out of options. User:Viriditas is continually reverting almost everything I do, and refusing to discuss it on the talk page. I don't know how to respond to this, because he simply won't explain what he is doing. It looks to me like he is pushing a pretty extreme agenda at the expense of other points of view, but I'm willing to try to see it from the other side. In the past you've commented on this issue, and I need your help if you have a few minutes. Thank you, Guttlekraw3 06:15, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

List of Chinese Tongs Undeletion debate[edit]

Hello. I'm sorry to trouble you but, as the original author of the Tong wars article, I thought you might be interested in the current debate at Wikipedia:Votes_for_undeletion#List_of_Chinese_tongs over the undeletion of a listing of Chinese-American Tongs (many of which were involved in the early Tong wars) and I'm sure everyone would appreciate your opinion on the subject. 64.12.116.11 06:02, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

We've never met but I need you to explain an edit from (wait for it). . .3 June 2004. As the article is on the road to becomeing featured the entire article is being basicly fact checked.

Way way back you wrote this paragraph:

There is active debate on both sides, with no irrefutable evidence about whether T. Rex was warm or cold blooded. Perhaps the balance falls on the side of the creature being warm-blooded, although probably not as warm blooded as modern mamals. I thought animals could either be warm or cold blooded with no inbetween. I know very little about this topic, however. Were you refering to something else?

There is some speculation that the cretaures homeothery strategy might have changed at times in its life cycle. Would this mean the way the T-Rex's body created heat changed as it got older or that it's generally way of creating heat changed as it aged? Whatever it is, how would that connect with warm/cold blooded?

Please leave a note at my talk page or the article's page.

I am very sorry about asking you this more than a year after you made the edit. Happy editing!

Better source request for Image:Natsios_40th.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Natsios_40th.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 16:45, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Alfred Watkins ley[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Alfred Watkins ley, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No assertion of notability, also appears to be unverifiable

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. snigbrook (talk) 15:25, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Of the City of the Saved... has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I can find no RS for this book, simply directory listings and wiki pages.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File source problem with File:Natsios 40th.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Natsios 40th.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
