I don't understand why Music of Tasmania, Music of Victoria and the like are to be seperate from Music of Australia? Dysprosia 03:16, 8 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Because Music of Australia is a big topic that will probably need to be eventually split up, and that seems the most logical way to do it. It's just pre-emptive linking -- if it bothers you, delete them. They'll be re-added when created, hopefully. The goal is not to separate Tasmanian music from Australian music but to provide a home for more specific information than would be appropriate on the main page. Tuf-Kat 04:33, Dec 8, 2003 (UTC)

Would'nt sea music like sea chantey be considered a cultural genre? --TwinsFan48 8 Dec 2003

Not really. Sea shanties are a group of songs peculiar, AFAIK, to English sailors. They should be part of the Music of England article. I suppose sailors could be considered a subculture in some ways, in which case a link to an article on the types of work songs and such sung by sailors might be relevant, but in any case, sea shanties are a specific genre and should not be listed here -- they should be at list of genres of music, which I think they are. Actually both house music and techno are genres which originally developed in the United States, not the UK (see the articles in question for the history). They were popularized in Britain and eventually resold and marketed back to the US, to be sure, but house got its start (and its name) in Chicago, and techno started in Detroit and was also named by pioneer Juan Atkins. In contrast both trip hop and drum and bass are bona fide UK genres. I moved the links appropriately. --Lexor 11:42, 27 Dec 2003 (UTC)

trying to clean this list up by removing the genres after the entries, replacing them with the likes of the Template:Folk music traditions. Tuf-Kat

Editing some items of this list[edit]

I must edit, also remove some Items of those lists there. Also, Montenegro and Serbia are separated countries today, so I must change correct links and also, countries. Nextly, page about Sinhalese music isn't currently in Wikipedia. Due to this, this page was removed from the list. Cassa342 (talk) 21:36, 2 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
