the term[edit]

diabolus in musica was not a scale but an interval in Medieval music: the augmented fourth or tritonus, a stacking of three major seconds like f(-g-a)-b natural.

It's a specific dissonance which the medieval modal system considered particularly unmusical. See [1] and the article on tritone. The article should also have a hatnote linking to the disambiguation page at Diabolus in musica. Gimmetrow 07:10, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA nom on hold[edit]

This is only my fifth review, so bare with me.

  • "Released on June 9, 1998 through American Recordings, it is the second studio album to feature drummer Paul Bostaph." This should be seperated into different sentances.
  • The album sold 46,000 copies in its first week to peak at number 31 on the Billboard 200, although received mixed critical reviews. This should probably be re-worded, its kind of confusing.
  • Blabbermouth.net shouldn't be italicized
  • Blabbermouth.net shouldn't be linked in ref 8

guitar tuning[edit]

allright, to all you non guitarists, this may sound pointless to include, however I think it should be mentioned that slayer tune their guitars to C# on this album (or at least some of the songs), instead of E flat, which will contribute to a different sound, and represents a change in maybe style or moving in a different direction musically. I'm just not sure if they tune to "drop c#" (basically this is a possibility as they tune to e flat normally, so it would explain it) or all strings down 3 semitones which kerry king does and did in a demo he did for a guitar magazine. flat fifth (tritone) not used in medival music[edit]

actually, here is a link of a 16th century lute player, and if you look in measure 2, you will see a tritone (c to f#), even though it is not a flat fifth from the keynote (d as key signature denotes d minor) also, as the tritone that occurs naturally in d minor is e to b flat ie. iidim, it suggests that the tritone is delibirate. http://www.delcamp.net/pdf/1_renaissance/neusiedler_wascha_mesa.pdf this somewhat contradicts that statement? suggest revising?194.46.176.174 (talk) 23:01, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nu Metal[edit]

  • Sorry, the majority of the sources state that it is thrash metal, and no one cares what you think. Slayer is a thrash metal band. This is a thrash metal album. I'd have to agree with the first guy, this is definitely a Nu Metal Album. Slayer takes more of a refined Nu Metal sound in this album than in previous ones like Hell Awaits or Seasons In The Abyss.199.107.16.119 (talk) 19:13, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Diablus In Musica is Slayer's seventh studio album[edit]

If you do not count Undisputed Attitude as an album, it will add up to eleven studio albums. Also, as of January 10th, 2016, it says on SLAYER.NET, the band's official website, that Repentless is their ELEVENTH studio album which leaves Undisputed Attitude out of their studio album lineup.

Groove metal[edit]

I personally don't think it is nu metal at all. But, in the sources, it shows that there is groove metal elements. This album is definitely experimental, but it's not nu metal at all, it's just groove metal. TheEarthboundFan2001 (talk) 19:13, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with this band, I requested you to post your references to help editors who regulatory watch this page, therefore I really can not argue your point, however rockandmetalinmyblood.com and decibelmagazine.com seem to be questionable as to their reliability, but lets wait to hear from editors more familiar with this band. This album is mostly thrash metal with elements of groove/experimental/nu-metal. It's an oddball but it's an experiment in the thrash style. It's not accepted as a core/essential thrash metal album, at least of the 1990s, but it has its place among certain fans and I like it enough to defend its place in thrash metal.
