Re: Your note on my talk page user talk:noe: I think you are right, it is about time to kill this experiment (after a proper VfD, of course). It would have been a different matter if the list had solidified into a few well documented or well annotated cases, rather than an endless list of idle speculation (which is what it seems to be, but honestly I havn't really checked anything). I'm not sure I will vote, though — I appear in the page history simply because I chanced to drop by the page one day and saw something I could improve, even without being an expert.

Poker Wiki

Looks good. I doubt if I'll find my way over there as I really haven't done much work on poker stuff since I wrote all those biographies 6 months ago. My time is now mainly split between CDVF and WP:PMEX. Since I have a good feel for stuff here and reactions, let me say that some things you can do over there that you might not be able to do here include:

• Writing detailed info about all the online poker places. I think we have the major ones here, but it'd be nice to stay on the forefront of such things.
• Writing biographies of "semi-notable" players. For instance, I took a bit of flak for writing an article on David Pham, and he even won a WSOP bracelet!
• Any sort of "how-to". Because Wikipedia is not a how-to guide, if someone tried to write a how-to, or any sort of "original research", like analysis of styles of various poker players, etc. we'd likely send it off to Wikibooks or something.

I'm sure you've already thought of all this. If you're looking to recruit people, you might want to try User:Furrykef who is a semi-pro player, has worked on a lot of various wiki projects, and I liked his work enough to nominate him for admin here. Also, if you're looking for media, text, etc. you may want to contact David Schwartz who runs the WSOP retrospective ( http://gaming.unlv.edu/WSOP/ ). I contacted him a while back to get permission for images and he was very nice and told me I could use anything from the site in accordance with the GFDL. If you explained that wikicities is a Wikimedia project he'd likely give you the same permission. CryptoDerk 16:24, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)

Philip - User:2005 has exactly as much authority regarding poker articles as you or I do. If he doesn't want to collaborate, that's his business, but it should shouldn't stop you from doing anything that you think would be mutually beneficial to these two projects. I have no idea if it's a direct quote. I've added the "citation needed" template at the end of the blurb and tweaked the header a bit, so hopefully this is a step in the right direction. The manual of style says to avoid special characters in headings, but your insertion of "According to the Sox media department..." looks good, as it mentions that the mascot is a created character of the Sox. Double/treble

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out an appropriate compromise here. To me, there are a lot of MLS fans who see the SS and the Cup as the most sensible US-specific definition of the "double" - but then there are the traditionalists who feel that only winning the national cup competition and the league counts as a "double". An uber-traditionalist could even make some sort of argument for the Open Cup plus the SS being the true double. I think there are valid arguments for any combination, and that your version (any two of the three major honors) is probably best. At any rate, I guess we'll eventually end up compromising by just describing the controversy, rather than enforcing any single definition of the term. Bill Oaf 01:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't care how many yars we want to say Meyer has been at UF; I just want it to be consistant. The 2006 Colorado Buffaloes football team lists most of their coaches at 0 years at Colorado. CONCACAF

"the squeaky wheel gets the grease"

I'm not sure if I'm the squeaky wheel or not, but I don't care what decision is made as long as it makes sense and actually *IS* a concensus. Grant wants it his way no matter what. I looked at the other regions and they have it the way CONCACAF was before. CAF is the region that is closest to CONCACAF and it was almost an identical match. Thus, it was not about having it MY way. It's not the only region that is a close match to CAF and how CONCACAF was before. Take a look at AFC too. Also, another user mentioned how scorers were usually ordered and showed TWO references. Again, not HIS personal wish. It was simply how it's been done before. Washington DC

Commerce City and Bridgeview don't need disambiguating, in my opinion, as they are fairly uncommon names. "Washington", however, could refer to either the state or any number of towns and cities with that name in the United States. Adán

Originally, Antonio Adán was listed with #25 because he was named to the Champions' League roster. Somehow, his number was switched to #26 (I guess because of the Madrid site). In previous seasons, only first team players (#1-25) were listed in the main roster section with reserve players (#26+) who were named to the match sheet in a separate section. So far, only Javier Acuña has been the only reserve team player named to 18-man playing sheet. Adán has not. I feel that if he is going to be listed with reserve number, he should be named as substitute at least. I thought that Adán would be added to the first team roster when transfer window opened, but with Castilla looking for a promotion spot, I doubt it. It seems only four or five other La Liga club page do not list the reserves on the first team roster, so I can not use uniformity to delete. Raul17 (talk) 03:12, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Adán is listed as wearing #25 for Champions' League in the Uefa site (http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/club=50051/competition=1/index.html). The redlink was just my mistake for leaving the brackets in there, so apologies for not previewing adequately -- I've removed the brackets. As for the duplicate link, I thought it was generally favored style to not repeat the same wikilink in the same paragraph or perhaps section. Also because of the text of the link, it wasn't really 100% clear that it was the same target as the {{Details}} template. Highly irresponsible edit note.

Thsi "I'm restoring this sentence. OBVIOUSLY the pop culture impact of vuvuzelas in 2010 is far beyond that of a 2nd-tier tournament in 2009. If -> revert war, so be it" is entirely irrespionsible. You need to read WP:BRD, and conform to it. Someone, validly, went bold and put that sentence in a while ago; someone else, equally validly, reverted, giving a reason in an edit note. Now the only valid way to get it re-inserted is to discuss: if others agree with you that it is verifiable that the Confederations Cup was so low profile that it did not bring the vuvzela to "international public consciousness" (not the same as "pop culture impact"), it can go back. Until then, have enough respect for the right way to do things to revert your own edit, so that others do not have to rise to your irresponsible challenge to enter into an edit war. Barcelona Sporting Club

Greetings, You have added the {confused|FC Barcelona} on this page. Barcelona is a well known team around the world, probably more recognized in South America. You might be from Europe and might have mistaken this club with FC Barcelona. Since 2004, when the article of Barcelona Sporting Club was created, nobody has been confused or even added this {confused|FC Barcelona} to the page because its a very famous club and people know the difference between this two clubs. Barcelona may not be a Real Madrid or Manchester United, but a person that follows south america soccer will know and recognize Barcelona. There is a user who shows strong displays of WP:OWN, WP:ROWN and WP:BATTLEFIELD and wantonly reverts and blocks the addition of the club’s full name to the article.
