from VfD:

A non-notable piece of software from Microsoft. We can't list everything that comes with Windows XP here, and I doubt that that many people actually use this one. — El Chico! Talk 19:32, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)

  • Merge and Redirect I can't decide whether to merge with Screen reader or Windows XP. It doesn't deserve it's own article, but we should include some mention. -- Netoholic @ 21:05, 2004 Sep 28 (UTC)
    • To be honest, there's not much to merge. I think we could just drop the two existing sentences in both articles and we'd be fine. As for the redirect, you should do it to Screen reader, because Narrator also came with Windows 2000, not just XP. — El Chico! Talk 21:18, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • No need to delete, as usual. Simply redirect. Mark Richards 22:27, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Should be a footnote in XP that points to screen reader, redirect this to XP. --Improv 12:25, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
    • No, redirect to Screen reader, because it was not an XP-only feature (It was also 2000). — El Chico! Talk 14:08, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
      • Changed mind on this new information -- Delete. --Improv 19:04, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I am using this page[edit]

I have to do a project on how computers talk (in sound). Technical and practically and policy wise we can and should list every windows component and have an article on them . one of the policies (or was it a guild line) say wikipedia is both a general encyclopaedia and a specialist encyclopaedia, so wikipedia can be an encyclopaedia of windows componants Oxinabox1 08:36, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

neutral?[edit]

I think this article could be brgging about microsoft's "accessibility". -RadSkat3 17:43, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the program is annoying, but you can make him say funny things. it thinks Wikipedia is pronounced Wikipedia 71.224.19.29

Mystified by the "it can also pronounce 'tequila'" comment on MS Anna. My Windows XP SP2 Narrator says "tequila" perfectly. 86.136.112.115 02:27, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mine pronounces it fine as well. As far as I can tell, Cumbiagermen added that piece of information, so perhaps they can clear things up. David H. Flint 03:26, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My guess is that older systems did not pronounce "tequila" correctly. I did not test these systems but I have heard it pronounce that word as "tech-quil-lah". I assumed that the bug occurred up to SP2 and was fixed in Windows Vista, but I was mistaken. --Cumbiagermen 06:12, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Screen Reader?[edit]

Article mentions Narrator and Apple's VoiceOver as screen readers. This is not technically true. Narrator and VoiceOver respond to events that occur (new window, selection, cursor movement, mouse movement, etc.), but are not designed to allow navigation of the screen for reviewing. Full-fledged screen readers allow for this, in addition to announcing events. Charles Oppermann 20:53, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

glitch[edit]

The mentioned glitch is specific to the Microsoft Sam voice within SAPI, not to Narrator only IMHO. --Abdull 21:39, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding Narrator[edit]

how do you shut off Microsoft Narrator from starting up everytime you turn on your computer? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.177.185.13 (talk) 04:09, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
