This page needs to be reformatted to be the same as the rest of the "List of <sports teams> in Canada." As I don't know enough about soccer's structure and history in Canada, I cannot do it myself. Any volunteers? Shootmaster 44 (talk) 06:41, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't a list page just the same as a category page? If each Canadian soccer club page had the 'category:Canadian soccer clubs' on the page the list will update itself at Category:Canadian soccer clubs. I am just rookie at this and could be wrong. The time updating lists might be better served. --Coppercanuck (talk) 03:02, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not specifically. A list page can contain information about teams and leagues that do not have articles. It isn't used simply as a links page to other articles. See the rest of the Canadian sports teams lists for examples. This list does include many teams that probably don't need to be included though. As I said before, my knowledge of Canadian soccer is cursory at best, but it would stand to reason that only Senior level clubs/teams in professional leagues (i.e. CMISL, MLS, USL etc.) should only be included. Including a team that is fourth division beer league doesn't add to this. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 04:04, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amateur soccer clubs[edit]

I am dismayed by the collection of supposed clubs. Would anyone mind if I wiped it completely. Without references, even primary sources, there is no way of knowing if the clubs are still functioning or if they have folded. Also, a list that long (over 1000 clubs) is too long. It should have been broken-up by province at the very least. The other issue is that most of the clubs aren't even notable. Any suggestions? Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:01, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nearly two months out. I am removing all of the non-notable clubs (those without articles) and tagging the remainder. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:41, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also, linking the majority of clubs is not appropriate. WP:REDLINK states that "articles should not have red links to topics that do not warrant an article". Most of the teams will never merit an article. They are non-professional, failing football guidelines, and are not written about, failing WP:GNG. Please do not link the clubs if they don't already have an article. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:10, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that anon from Port Union has been reworking the amateur clubs. It might be appropriate to limit the lists to leagues with references. Walter Görlitz (talk) 08:05, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Amateur clubs part 2[edit]

Is there any reason or objection to deleting the list of amateur clubs? I'll be looking through the linked ones to see if there are any that are notable but it makes the entire list unnecessarily long and non-encyclopedic. Jay eyem (talk) 03:46, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

None. They're unsourced and likely to have major changes annually as teams fold and new teams enter. Fans, parents and players are likely to add teams when they're added, but not remove them when they fold. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:00, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
