  • Just a comment - we have articles for most of the other contestants. This one is not particularly useful, and in fact they are all subject to vandalism from overzealous fans, so I'm not sure what to do. (In my opinion the only ones involved in the whole Canadian Idol thing who are article-worthy are Ben Mulroney and Sass Jordan.) Adam Bishop 15:22, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
    • The problem, it seems to me, is that we're going to have to work with rough consensus rather than official policy, and the rough consensus emerges unofficially, and undocumented, by debates like this. We have now had about seven XX Idol contestant entries on VfD. My impression of consensus (and it may be wrong because it's what I believe and I may be swayed by seeing agreement) is that winners stay, possibly top 2 finalists stay, but "contestants" in general do not. In a sense, it's rational. The winner gets a record contract (and some inane film, possibly) and airplay. Sometimes the #2 person gets the same (that Reuben guy in the US), so each of these people will achieve notability other than being a flavor of the month -- even if their careers are briefer than The Left Bank's ("Walk Away Renee"). However, the nature of reality shows is to shove forward numerous undistinguished persons to hype, and the "XX Idol" thing is a franchise with a store in every nation. If each has 12 finalists, and each exists in only, oh, 11 nations, we're at 133 entries a year -- all of whom will be forgotten the next year. Geogre 16:55, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
