You editted Dark Throne, do you play?[edit]

If so, could you let me know on either my talk page, by adding yourself to the Category:Wikipedians who play Dark Throne category, or both? Thanks!

Lady Aleena 12:08, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Even if you don't play anymore, would you still add yourself to the category? Lady Aleena 23:52, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh... "Idiots"[edit]

Thanks for pointing that footnote's possible interpretation out to me. I had simply picked out the lower frequency word in David's comment, if it was an attack it was a subconscious one!

The problem with the civility issue is two-fold: Although the times when I'm uncivil are a diminshingly small protion and restricted to a very narrow audience, when I do let fly it is usually 1) Quite public and 2) Served sizzling hot.

An example of how I normally deal with low-level conflict would be Talk:Advanced Individual Combat Weapon. For a non-Tony-related incident, we could look at Gmaxwell. On several occasions he's sunk the boot into me with very little provocation. I compare the way that I responded to him a few months ago to how I responded to him recently. I've learned that it matters not who fires the first salvo, if I don't fire back there won't be a war.

Thanks for taking the time to raise this with me,

Copyvio[edit]

Please check the history. It was not me who put the copyvio on, I merely reverted the original author removing it himself, something sstrictly prohibited. if you believe it is not a copyuvio remove it yourslef. Neither Zapatancas or I as the contiributors to this article should remove it as wikipedia policy clearly states, SqueakBox 15:46, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I only had Zapatancas' word for it, which is not enough as I assumed he could have been lying (if we don't assume people can lie about copyvios we will quickly gertn infected). Zapatancas made no attemopt top prove it wasn't a copyvio and I asked him to get someone else to check it ouit. According to him that is beijng disruptibve but his poor explanation was not. Do you want copyvio's on wikipedia. If so I hope you are the first in line to be sued, SqueakBox 16:21, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I assumed that to check on the copyvio was a job for admins, and not my job. If Zapatancas had given a satisfactory explanation in the first place, as he eventually did today, though not on the article talk page, none of this would have happened. Instead he gave an insatisfactory explanation and kept reverting a copyvio notice where the alleged copyvio offendor was him, which as you well know he was prohibited from doing without giving a reasonable explanation. I asked him to get an admin to get look at the case but he ignored me and kept trying to revert a copyvio that he had allegedly created without giving a satisfactory explanation or waiting to get an admin to review the case, instead personally attacking me, for maybne the 50th time.

I would have been more civil to you if you had not misjudged the situation by making assumptions in the first place (eg that I put the copyvio on the article) instead of checking the facts. Acting as an admin is a position of responsibility which makes a basic attention to detail and not making assumptions without checking to see if they are correct or not an important part of that work, SqueakBox 23:35, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Poll[edit]

Dear Ral315, I would like to in vite you to my 1st poll, Best DCOM. Thanks! : ) Tcatron565 9:47 am CST 2/04/06

Can you please tall me how you changed that photo?!!!!!!!!!!!! Tcatron565 9:09 pm (CST) 2/05/06 (P.S. Thanks for voting on my poll! : ) Thanx!!!)
But everytime I try to do that It says that the file is corrupt. Tcatron565 9:15 pm 2/05/06

WP:RFR[edit]

Your oppose on WP:RFR (request for rollback privileges) has me confused. The RFR proposal is nothing like WP:RFA; there is no poll. There is no vote. It's just a centralized discussion area for people requesting rollback privileges. B-crats make the decision entirely on their own. All that is allowed is discussion. If there's language that can be changed on the RFR page to better explain that this is not a vote and not a poll that's being proposed, I think everyone working on this would be all ears. In any event, thank you for leaving your comments; I hope you'll take a second look at the proposal and reconsider endorsement of this (for lack of a better word) process. —Locke Coletc 05:29, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, thanks for your response. =) —Locke Coletc 05:31, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Signpost update[edit]

Yes, I'll update it now, and I'll also include CheckUser rights if no one has done that already. (Heading over to newsroom...) Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 23:08, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can do; I'm updating to reflect all 5 de-sysoppings now, I'll add in the granting of CheckUser rights to News and Notes, and also the new CSD for userboxes. I'll take a look at the other article and see what needs to be done. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 23:16, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I need to stop for now, but I'll be back shortly to finish up. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 23:36, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
News and notes has been updated with CheckUser and the CSD; I've expanded the other story to reflect the 5 de-sysoppings. I haven't broken up that article into two seperate ones, but if you think that's necessary, feel free to do so and expand the section on the cartoons. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:18, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Replied via email; taking it to WP:AN now. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 22:46, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signpost questions-reply[edit]

Sure. WikieZach 01:53, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are a mentor! Please familiarize yourself with the case and conflict. I've posted notices to the article's talk page and AN. You may want to introduce yourself to all the parties (though that's a lot). Again, thank you. Dmcdevit·t 10:51, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediator section[edit]

It's locked, so I can't add it in, but I wanted to mention that if you look in the archives, Headly Down DID accept my mediation. It's the entry that starts off "Hmm. Well your cred seems to check out...". As a neutral party, I'm not making any judgements here, but I do feel it important to mention that Headly did accept my mediation. If I can offer my advice: In my time dealing with that thread, I found out that the sides are so firmly entrenched that neither one wants to accept anything by the other side as acceptable. Further, some of the participants (most notably the NLP opponents) deem any mediator or administrator's pointing out policy violations such as personal attacks to be "biased". I strongly believe that a heavy hand is going to be needed to solve this issue, or at least some big gun administrator powers that I didn't have access to (nor would have right to use as a mediator due to conflict of interest.) Cheers, I'll be monitoring the thread myself. SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 00:30, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check all revisions[edit]

I didn't create it, and I don't remember who did. It was someone on IRC, I think. It's so simple that I think it would be ok for you to go ahead with it. Whoever I asked wrote it quickly in a minute or so. — 0918BRIAN • 2006-02-9 19:39

I didnt realize I was attributing them to anyone...[edit]

I added a new barnstar to my page from the site you gave me, I thought people just put them on their pages because it made their pages look cooler, and told about some of the things they've done. Can I grab other images and put them on my page, or will those be attributed to other users as well? pickelbarrel 22:15, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ive readded a barnstar...[edit]

But I think its okay because it doesnt have anyones name attached to it I dont think...Please take a look and let me know if its okay...Is it okay if I give other people the barnstars?...also Im curious if you would like one of my barnstars...for helping me out? pickelbarrel 23:30, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another Esperanzial note...[edit]

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Well Ive been triing to get that barnstar page[edit]

I cant seem to copy whatever it is I need to copy to reproduce those barnstars, so I asked my freind Emperor Cenestrad to give me some awards, but between you and I, I dont think Ill keep the ones he gave me... I was hoping you might be able to "walk me through the process" abit so I can give away some of these things, and hopefully keep some as well. Thanks pickelbarrel 04:31, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if you could check[edit]

To make sure that my barnstars are okay...Also some of the barnstars I got from different people I really am not fond of showing off, so I was hoping there might be a way to lump all the "picture awards" into a smaller setting...Ive seen some users have a nice little collection without it being too big...that way I wouldnt upset the people that got them for me, but I wouldnt have to show a picture of a bleached anus on my discussion page...thanks pickelbarrel 12:58, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uncatagorized articles[edit]

Oddly, it worked when I tried it on Wikisign, here. I don't know why it would make a syntax error on the live database... I suppose I'll just wait and ask Interiot. JesseW, the juggling janitor 09:07, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

AN Navbox[edit]

Hey there,

This brought a smile to my face.;-) I used to archive the AN boards in the past. Many of us placed redlinks in the navbox each time we archived, for ease of use of the next archiver. The navbox has a link to the main archive template {{Administrators' noticeboard navbox all}} which can be used to access any relevant archive. No hard and fast rule about these things, I know; just thought I'd drop you a (rather bemused) line about the "incorrect" updating. ;-) Very warm wishes ENCEPHALON 18:14, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, there's absolutely no need to apologise, Ral; quite understandable, what you meant. You're right about leaving a blue link to the old archives; I remember leaving the latest blue along with three redlinks when I used to do them in the past. No matter. I hadn't known, incidentally, that archiving is now done by bot. We had a big discussion on this just before I went off on a wikibreak, and I've been wondering these last few days whether a bot was doing it. Who's running it, do you know? Probably Cryptic or Curps. I daresay it may be a good idea to reconfigure it to archive more frequently: the boards have been so large recently that, combined with WP's slower page loading times these days, I've sometimes simply been unable to load the pages. Anyway, thanks for the info. Best ENCEPHALON 19:51, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moving CBB[edit]

I object moving it to bottom. It is only changing part of the comm portal (well, featured content also changes). It is supposed to be on top! Everything else is very static and visitors already know what's there anyways. Renata 04:49, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfM[edit]

Would you look over and consider taking Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/East Sea (disambiguation)? No special reason, I'm just matching available poeple up with available cases. If you're agreeable, would you leave me a note on my talk page? Thanks! Essjay TalkContact 00:20, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you deleted this. However, a DRV has been completed with the result of undelete and send to TFD. Here is the current TFD for this Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2006_February_19/Userboxes#Template:User-AmE-0. Please undelete this.--God of War 07:39, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • please restore this template so that users can make an informed decision at TfD. This template deletion was overturrned at Deletion Review, so I'll assume you didn't know that when you deleted it again citing T1 (which is the orriginal reason for the deletion that was overturned), Thank You: Mike McGregor (Can) 13:55, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Divisiveness is up for interpertation and the DRV has ruled that this is not divisive. Therefore T1 does not apply.--God of War 18:30, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Elections[edit]

Hello there Ral: Thank you very much for your support on the ongoing Esperanza elections. I know that the election still has some time left, but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your vote. Let's keeping working for a better Wikipedia, regardless of the outcome. Thank you[edit]

Hello Ral, thank you for supporting me in the Esperanza council election.--Dakota ~ ° 06:24, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have just readded three proposed remedies to Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Tony Sidaway/Workshop, which had been removed. I have also refactored these comments to

  • remove personal attacks, irrelevant comments, and bickering
  • make the page readable and usable for the arbcom, as Minspillage recently has done.

As your words appear on that page, I'm letting you know so that you may review the changes. I have tried not to let any bias or POV I may have color my summaries; however, it's a wiki, so if you think I've misrepresented your words, please fix them. Respectfully yours, InkSplotch(talk) 14:41, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:R from UN/LOCODE[edit]

Hi, can you please update Template:R from UN/LOCODE? Right now it contains a link to [[Geographic coding|geographic code]], which is a redirect page; please change this to [[geocode|geographic code]] to avoid unnecessary redirecting. Right now there are hundreds of indirect links to geocode because of this. Hey there. I noticed that the News and Notes section in the newsroom says "anyone can take this over." If I wanted to do so, what process would I need to go through? Beldin Kee[edit]

hi, may you release "Beldin Kee"? that's my name =) Thank You.

As you blocked Anderson12, I figured I would point out that there is a very strong possibility that Anderson12 is a sockpuppet of a banned user (User:Lightbringer, more recently User:Basil Rathbone), and I don't believe that he plans to edit in good faith (noting that if he is a sock, ArbCom prohibited him from editing any article relating to Freemasonry. So, you might want to reconsider your approach to him. MSJapan 00:13, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, they're very much the same. If you look at the ArbCom case (I don't remember the link, unfortunately), the main complaint came down to POV editing. One of the last things Lightbringer and Basil both tried to do was revise the 'forget-me-not" section. The sources used did not say what they claimed, so it was rved. Anderson's 3rd edit here was that revision (Bernheim makes a distinction Anderson12 ignored), Anderson's 7th edit was a 3RR, and if you look at the Talk page on Scratchpad, he jumped all over it, despite being on WP less than a day and having under 10 edits (knowing 3RR and how to do it, and knowing a section was gone when you were never here to see it in the first place is pretty good). WegianWarrior has also posted some IP range evidence on Talk:Freemasonry, and Anderson12 deleted it. So, I'd say that the evidence and his actions prove him guilty.
I also believe we have a similar pattern with User:WMMrgn- he's using the same sources the others did, only editing Freemasonry-related articles, and putting in blatantly incorrect sources (the last was trying to prove Poe was an anti-Mason by using a page about US Presidents who were suspected Masons, and furthermore insisting John Quincy Adams died in 1829).
All of this nonsense prevents us from working on these articles, and instead rving them to death, which is why I get so adamant about needing to do something about these accounts ASAP. MSJapan 15:26, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Elections[edit]

Hey Ral315! I wish to say thanks for your vote at the Esperanza elections.

Archiving the Signpost[edit]

Since you seem to be the one who always updates the Signpost, could you take a look at my suggestion at Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost#Nicer archive views revisited and tell me (on that page would be fine) what you think? If you're not averse to the idea, I can make all the necessary changes to the current archived issues. You would just need to start following the new scheme starting with the next issue. What do you think? - dcljr (talk) 21:28, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, there's 40 or so other articles i've started, feel free to nominate those for deletion as well. "Kick Karmafist While He's Down Week" is almost over, so you'd better get your shots in while you can. Karmafist 05:00, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, i'm not in the mood to be tactful right now, especially with someone as inflexible as yourself, so we might as well end this discussion with us disagreeing. This is an election that will decide what goes on politically over the next year in a town of 28,000+ people. Karmafist 05:10, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And as I've said time and time before, there's no legal precedent for the paranoia of your side other so you invent a witch hunt to help censor Wikipedia. We're done talking for tonight. Anything from you on my talk page until tomorrow will be removed or reverted, since I will construe it as a hostile action. And you know what the ironic thing is? I was going to go to these people and ask them to stop their endless arguing and chattering and work collaboratively towards putting that article you decided to nominate for deletion to featured status(I can't recall any real world organized collaborations like that on here before), and then write a Signpost article about how a bunch of internet trolls put aside their differences to write an article and voter guide about their annual municipal elections. I used to have faith that Wikipedia could bring out the best in people like that. That faith is just about gone... Karmafist 05:24, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alienus is the issue[edit]

Content isn't to issue with Alienus. Its is stalking and baiting and disrupting. ONE MILLION pages and he shows up messing with Borderline Personality Disorder. ONE MILLION pages and he goes after David Horowitz and Rodeo Drive. This person is stalking people that disagree with him and doing it without shame. Alienus is baiting people and disrupting multiple pages everyday. Are you going to tell me that the administrators on Wikipedia can do nothing about it? If that's true what good are you? Check out some of the other pages.

Objectivism and homosexuality Gay rights opposition Homosexuality Cloning Jesus Gay rights opposition Principle of charity Objectivist philosophy Biblical inerrancy Bible scientific foreknowledge Abortion debate Abortion in Canada Same-sex marriage Humanism Parental notification Marriage

That's just the last week of edit wars and it includes over fifty reverts and countless moments of uncourteous and down right mean comments.
