this quote "and also made no distinction by race." needs further evidence of truthfulness. It is stating that Freemasons made distinction by race, which is incorrect.

National organisations[edit]

Naming[edit]

I believe the organisation has changed name to simply "IOGT International", i.e. that the letters IOGT don't mean anything--they're there for historical reasons only.

However, I'm not able to find a source that clearly states this. The closest I've come, is the IOGT International Constitution. 193.71.107.251 (talk) 09:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, IOGT does mean something, else its value to the organization is nil. If it is an acronym for "International Organization of Good Templars," then "IOGT International" is quite redundant: International Order of Good Templars International. If, however, it is actually an historical acronym for "Independent Order of Good Templars," then IOGT International would make more sense and would be grammatically correct (a bonus!). I suspect, based on my exploration of various Web sites and documents related to IOGT, that the organization itself is not completely certain how to translate (or interpret) the acronym, or perhaps is divided on the question. In any case, the historical name, "Good Templars," evidently is no longer favored as a brand. PlaysInPeoria (talk) 17:29, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
