From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

List of schools in North Carolina, List of schools in Maryland, List of schools in Texas was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was DELETE

I really hate to do this because these were mentioned in the List of schools in Washington debate (see Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/List of schools in Washington), but these articles are still around, and they still have {{vfd}}. I frankly think these should all be deleted with prejudice, but the consensus to the schools of Washington debate was weak (8-3) and not enough committed to delete all of them that I would dare extend deletion to pages not originally listed. So here they are and: Delete, please. Cool Hand Luke 00:58, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete all three lists, unless someone can name a committee of at least ten account-holding Wikipedians who are committed to working systematically at producing high-quality, well-researched articles about schools. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 02:18, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. It's only fair. - Vague Rant 03:26, Oct 31, 2004 (UTC)
  • Ok, here's the deal. I'm in favor of a table of school data. I'm against having breakouts for individual schools that are not notable. These lists are simply compilations of redlinks. That is exactly the bad thing. That tells all future visitors to click and create an article and implies sanction of breakouts of individual schools, notable or not. In other words, I'm in favor of Schools of Durham County and Schools of Orange County, but I'm against Chapel Hill West High School. Therefore, please understand that I'm voting delete these lists. • Delete all three lists for the reason articulated by Geogre 04:00, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC). (Same vote, slight change in rationale. Emphasis on discouraging breakout rather than setting conditions for same). [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 13:56, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Encourages people to create articles that should be deleted. A nonencyclopedic list. --Improv 16:52, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. I agree with Geogre's viewpoint. Average Earthman 19:47, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Why oh why must people constantly turn every item on every list into a redlink? And then why must they create articles for these items which then say nothing but "X is a thing that's on the List of things that are Y"? Schools, consumer items (we're becoming a catalog you know), etc. So just delete. -R. fiend 19:14, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
