Martha Jefferson Randolph was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was to keep.

Another apparently lost/orphaned VfD nom, as I can't find a record of a voting page. Tagged October 20. Procedural/keep (I think. Maybe.)--Took a while to sort this out (actually, more like it took a while to find all the questions it raises). According to First Lady of the United States, this person, Thomas Jefferson's daughter, performed the duties of first lady, as Jefferson was a widower by the time he took office. Despite this, Abigail Adams still thinks Martha Jefferson was the next first lady. Confusing things further, I found information that Jefferson's other daughter also at times performed the duties[1]. The organization that First Lady of the United States says considers Martha Jefferson Randolph to be the 'official' first lady doesn't seem to have the list on line to confirm. Any help from someone with more interest/knowledge of US history and first ladies than I have, would be greatly appreciated. Niteowlneils 03:37, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
