This page was wrongfully deleted on the assumption that the site www.electricscotland.com owned the copyright to the material listed on the page. Electric Scotland in fact DOES NOT own the copyright to the material on the Akins entry, but carries the same information by permission from the Clan Akins Association which encourages the free distribution of its information on the internet.

Deletions

User:The clan akins association keeps deleting major portions from this page without providing any explanation. The parts they remove present one POV and they leave the other POV alone, thus unbalancing the article. I'm not going to revert any more today because I've reached three times, but if anyone else feels like it, feel free. It would be even better if someone can get them to engage in dialogue. The page has been restored repeatedly to its original context which is an unbiased presentation of facts based entirely upon historical records, rather than the POV of a biased personal opinion. It is not the place of an encyclopedia to engage in propaganda based on biased personal attitude or opinion, particularly when such opinions border on libel and slander. Therefore personal opinion should not be interjected into this (or any) articles and the contents presented should be limited only to verifiable facts of historic record. Note that only the Lord Lyon King of Arms can revive the Chieftancy of a Scottish clan. After investigation of Steven Lewis Akins' claims, he has not found grounds to do so. Therefore the following sentence is not a "verifiable fact of historic record" and has been removed from the article in accordance with the stated principles of The Clan Akins Association.

Today, after more than three centuries of dormancy, the chiefship of the Clan Akins has been revived by the clan's current Chief, Steven Lewis Akins of that Ilk, a direct hereditary descendant of the ancestral line, Akins assumed the heraldic achievement belonging to the original branch of the name of Akins of that Ilk in 1998.

As a result of the Lord Lyon's decision, it is illegal in Scotland to claim that anyone is Chief of Clan Akins (it's seen as a type of fraud) and people or organisations doing so risk prosecution in the Scottish courts. -- Derek Ross | Talk 15:23, 2004 Aug 23 (UTC)

This article is in dire need of a re-write. The fact that Akins is not an official clan does not warrant such biased language!! and as they aren't a real clan, there certainly shouldn't be sentences such as the one above either. but it would be fairly easy to represent all the claims of both sides in a neutral manner as per wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. --heah 01:31, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Clan Akins part deux

Is the Clan Akins stuff even wikipedia worthy? Maybe we should remove all the "clan" stuff and re-direct this to something like "Akins (surname)" or a disambig page.--Celtus (talk) 05:55, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
