Are there not opening manuals for other games? Go? Reversi? Are we chess-centric? Wait, no, don't answer that.

I think chess opening manual or even chess openings literature might be a better name for this (I'm not sure the Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings can really be described as a manual). --Camembert
