Moulin Rouge![edit]

Hiya, welcome to Wikipedia.

I was impressed with your contribution to the Moulin Rouge! article. Out of personal interest, where is Kylie Minogue's On A Night Like This in the film? Please register with Wikipedia,

Thanks for the welcome! I'm actually registered with Wikipedia, I just usually forget to sign in when editing pages. Thanks for taking the time to leave me a note anyway!
As for "On A Night Like This", I must confess I'm not actually sure. I've compiled the list of songs from various sources, and I traced that one down to a rather poorly named album called "Moulin Rouge: Music Inspired by the Film". The Amazon link is here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005TPBX/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_2/104-5726332-5491927
Now, one of the comments on the page says the following:

As a bonus it [the CD] includes orignal songs by artists who actually did play in the film, covering some of the OTHER songs (Fatboy Slim's "Going Out of My Head" and Kylie Minogue's "On a Night Like This").

I took this to mean that these two songs are actually featured somewhere in the movie, but upon reading it a second time, perhaps it means that Fatboy Slim and Kylie Minogue are actually actors in the movie (I know Kylie Minogue was the green fairy) and that the two songs listed aren't actually featured in the movie. A quick Google search doesn't seem to reveal anything any more insightful ... any suggestions?
The only involvement I know Fatboy Slim had with the film was the remixes of the Can Can and Nature Boy for the OST, and with Kylie, the Green Fairy. Sorry, I think the list is faulty.--Speedway 19:19, September 7, 2005 (UTC)
Whoops! Then out they go! Ah, the joy of Wikipedia. --Dlugar 20:01, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hi Dlugar, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Hi and welcome. Please make the changes that you think need to be made on this article. I don't know enough about it. As they say here - Be Bold in making changes. Trödel|talk 14:02, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

PS you may want to check out the Wikipedia:WikiProject Latter Day Saint movement if you are interested - we are trying to work together to review each other's articles and generally improve the quality of related articles.

Thanks for the info. I've worked on Linguistics and the Book of Mormon but right now it seems some people think it's POV. If you could take a quick read through that and tell me what you think I'd be much obliged.

Say, is the correct protocol for replying to messages on a user's talk page to put a reply on your talk page, or to just put it here on mine? Oh well, I hope you see this! :-) --Dlugar 05:13, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Normal protocol for replying to message is to include it on the other users talk page that way they get the "You have new messages" alert when they login. I have the default set to watch pages I edit - so I sawy your note "Hi Trodel" in my watchlist and figured you left me a message her - so that was a good idea.
I'll take a look at the linquistics article and it looks like you edited the Arabic language article too. I have a good friend Tony that got a degree in Linguistics so if I can track down his email I may ask him to review too since he knows more about this stuff than me. Dispute at anti-Mormon[edit]

In order to gain a consensus concerning the issue at anti-Mormon, would you please comment here? --uriah923(talk) 04:24, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Balloon boy and WP:NOTNEWS[edit]

After reading the ridiculous and repetitive discussion on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Colorado balloon incident, and after seeing almost identical results on numerous other pages, I decided to write a short essay at User:Dlugar/WP:NOTANTINEWS to sum up my opinions on the matter for easy linking on future AfD pages. Since most of what I say there is similar to the stuff you've been saying, I thought you might be interested in taking a look and critiquing/borrowing/quoting/improving/etc. --Dlugar (talk) 19:34, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your essay is excellent. It conveys various points with greater eloquence than I was able to muster, as well as others points that I didn't get around to making or didn't even think of. I definitely will be linking to the essay when I encounter these arguments in the future. Well done! —David Levy 19:44, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
