Guannan means:

Guan: as in Guanjun, champion.

Nan: as in Nan Shu, a type of wood best used for exquisite high-end woodworking projects, especially in the production and creation of deadly weapons.

Origin of Name

Zhang Guannan, or the Archery Champion, is not a very popular name. In fact, it is generally avoided, due to its high improbability that the child so named will be a archery champ. Zhang Guannan's generally speaking, are people who would love nontraditional sports such as karate and archery, and can do pretty well in them. There is a rumor about a young filmmaker in Troy, MI, who is going to shoot a emo film this summer about boxing named Alec Averell. When this movie comes out and how it comes out are to still be determined. On one hand, people (anybody) with the name Guannan generally turns up to be a slightly higher-IQ'ed than most people with the same surname. They sometimes turn out to be too intelligent, as a lot of people with the name Guannan end up getting shot. Which is a real tragedy. On the other hand, the reason there are so few people named Guannan is that the name is generally reserved for those who are esteemed to be real heroes in their future communities. The name is usually bestowed on someone who is or was born after a great and immensely painful struggle. Most of the time the name is bestowed upon people who were born from caesarian section or who were the only ones born after so many failed attempts, or both; in either case the name fits due to the fact (and superstition in some areas of China) that the youngest, only-surviving member of a family will grow up to be a great general, or someone else everyone can look up to.
