Untitled[edit]

This article could really use an image, and several turn up with a simple Google search, but I don't know that any of them can be used because of copyright issues. If someone can find a usable image, please add it. -- Scarequotes 05:54, May 8, 2004 (UTC)

I cut this paragraph because I don't think there's enough evidence to include it in an encyclopedia-style reference work:

Starr is also rumored to have had flings with other well-known men, including John F. Kennedy. Some sources claim that he had sex with her the day of his famous 1960 debate with Richard Nixon and gave her partial credit for his winning performance that evening.

It can be put back in if more evidence is found. -- Scarequotes 17:38, May 4, 2004 (UTC)

Eleven years later, I agree with Scarequotes on two points: 1) the above sentence can be used only with inline documentation, and 2) the article needs a non-copyright vio image. Can someone oblige? American In Brazil (talk) 12:17, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Withdrawn. I'll work to fill out the article and see what I can do about an image, but it's not going to happen within a week. Self nomination. The article could use an image -- and if anyone can provide one that's not a copyvio, it'd be appreciated -- but I think it's well-written and compiles a lot of information that's around in dribs and drabs elsewhere on the Web. Also, Blaze has led an interesting life. -- Scarequotes 02:09, May 9, 2004 (UTC)

  • Object - for a (potential) featured article, it's pretty short. It's lacking the biographical birth and death dates, it has no picture, and some of the formatting is iffy. →Raul654 02:14, May 9, 2004 (UTC)
    • She's still alive, and I can't find any record of her birthdate (only the year -- nor can the reference librarians I've asked about it). Any suggestions for formatting fixes? Scarequotes 02:33, May 9, 2004 (UTC)
      • Ok, I gave it a once over. For future referece - in general, the article name should be in the first sentence, and it should be bolded. The only things in the article that should be bolded are the article name, and any terms that redirect to it. (I have redirected Fannie Belle Fleming, so I left that bolded). But with that said, it's still fairly short and still lacking a picture.

      • Thanks for the copyedit -- the article's better for it. Perhaps the Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style should be updated with the rules for bolding, however; it makes no mention of redirect terms, and I was following the "If the subject of the article has more than one name, each new form of the name should be in bold on its first appearance" suggestion. -- Scarequotes 22:40, May 10, 2004 (UTC)

past tense?[edit]

the article starts off with her being adressed in the past (she "was" a stripper) - not sure, but isn't the past tense in biographical stuff reserved for dead people? Afterall she's known as a stripper, so she "is" a stripper, even though she doesn't work in that business anymore? (clem 19:46, 31 August 2005 (UTC))[reply]

Changed to say she's a "former" stripper. I don't think it's accurate to claim that she "is" a stripper when she no longer does that line of work. - Atamasama 21:55, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

John F. Kennedy[edit]

@Tenebrae: Here are what People maintains were her own words, claiming to have had "a quickie in a closet with Jack [Kennedy]". I haven't time to work on this right now, but maybe you'd take a shot at it. The article the OP sourced is here (but requires registration).General Ization Talk 19:02, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note that the online version is shorter than the print version of The Week. See the exact quote and reference here (deleted because "unreliable source" from JFK article): [1]. deisenbe (talk) 20:10, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, General Ization. People has her writing: "Jack Kennedy came to the club and watched the show from the balcony with Jackie. I had met Jack in Washington before he married. We'd gone out and to his apartment a few times. But neither of us let on that we knew each other when Earl made introductions. That night we all went to the Roosevelt Hotel. Jackie left, and while Earl was elsewhere, I wound up having a quickie in a closet with Jack." Those are her own words, which is a good start. Yet anyone can claim anything, especially if the other party is dead and cannot respond, so I'd like other editors to weigh in on whether this unconfirmed claim satisfies WP:EXCEPTIONAL. If no one comments for a few days, we can post a notice at WikiProject:Biography, I think. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:13, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
