Ways to improve Russian interference in the 2016 United Kingdom referendum on exiting the European Union[edit]

Hi, I'm Slatersteven. Wikidea, thanks for creating Russian interference in the 2016 United Kingdom referendum on exiting the European Union!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This really needs a lot of work top be a stand alone article. At this time it really is little more then a collection of random opinions.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Slatersteven (talk) 15:04, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Russian interference in the 2016 United Kingdom referendum on exiting the European Union is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Russian interference in the 2016 United Kingdom referendum on exiting the European Union until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. — JFG talk 01:56, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Re Conegrade Ltd has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources, and no indication that this case played any important role in setting precedent.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A dead link (?) ... or something (on the "User:" page for "Wikidea")[edit]

This might not be your department ... maybe it is something external to your user page, that changed, and/OR something that you might not care about ...

anyway, the first entry under User:Wikidea#Interesting pages from Britannica 1911 says this:

and it seems to point to the URL "http://www.1911encyclopedia.org/Category:Law".

However, there seems to be something wrong with that entire domain name, (www.1911encyclopedia.org). Clicking on that link, gives some kind of an "ERROR MESSAGE" web page (feel free to try it yourself) ... saying -- [in part!] -- something like

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Even trying to enter a Plano vanilla URL of "http://www.1911encyclopedia.org/" (in to my browser "location" window) ... with pretty much nothing but that domain name ... results in some kind of "IOU" -type web page ... which seems to suggest that maybe the web hosting isn't set up [correctly], and/or maybe there is some problem with the domain name registration ... or something.

Just "FYI". Read or Ignore ... --Mike Schwartz (talk) 21:50, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - will fix! Wikidea 22:29, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Treaty establishing the European Community requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —swpbT go beyond 16:15, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Utterly undersourced. Should not be in main space as is. Wikipedia is not the yellow pages. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 21:49, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to respond more fully following my short response yesterday. I have added a few more references and updated the page with some additional details. I stand by the observation that Wikipedia is not a listing of all sorts of companies and very often "startups" - which this effectively is - are not notable. This company has received sufficient coverage, mostly about their management issues, that would probably lift them over the bar. There are many ways to deal with undersourced articles: they can be expanded, tagged, moved or AfD'd, the avenue to be taken depends on many factors. However, it probably is not best practice to accuse editors of being "lazy" if the original article is not really the height of the art itself. I am not sure this would have passed AfC, for example, had it gone down this route. On a technical note, copy/paste page moves are generally discouraged as they lose the original article attribution. I shall request a history merge. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 08:19, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well done - I take back the lazy comment. Thanks for adding references. Much better. Wikidea 12:58, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious...[edit]

...as to what prompted you to move California Agricultural Labor Relations Act to California Agricultural Labor Relations Act of 1975 a while back. To my knowledge (and I'm pretty sure I'd know about it), there's only one such act, so no need to distinguish the way we do for the various Civil Rights Acts in US history. PS - Thanks for all the work you've put into legal articles. Regards, Anomalous+0 (talk) 11:22, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't accurate. A public employment agency is usually what people said was a labour exchange, although before the Labour Exchanges Act 1909 in fact the unions and perhaps municipal governments set them up. Organized labour project[edit]

Thank you for earlier joining the Organized Labour project. I've been a participant in the project since 2006 and am helping with a revival of it. As part this we are introducing a new membership system, which will help with communications among participants. This involves creating a membership file for each participant within your user space (you can see an example of my membership card here: User:Goldsztajn/WikiProjectCards/WikiProject Organized Labour). This system is already in operation within a number of wikiprojects (such as Women in Red and Medicine). You will not have to do anything, myself or someone else from the project will create the relevant file within your userspace. However, I am conscious that it is not polite to change an editor's userspace without notice. If I don't hear from you in the negative, I will go ahead with making the change after the 18th of January. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Many thanks for supporting the project, in solidarity,--Goldsztajn (talk) 11:23, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Van Gend en Loos advert.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Van Gend en Loos advert.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:04, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Garland J[edit]

Hello, Wikidea, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username CaroleHenson, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Garland J, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Garland J.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|CaroleHenson}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Your draft article, Draft:Labour Party Rule Book[edit]

Hello, Wikidea. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Labour Party Rule Book".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 06:46, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Smith v Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Schwede66 04:41, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see that the article is back in mainspace (no problem) but it got there by a cut-and-paste move (big problem!). The issue caused by that is that all the attribution history is lost. I shall repair that through what's called a history merge. Don't ever do that again; as a lawyer, you should be finely attuned to issues related to attribution and copyright. The correct way of renaming articles, or changing between namespaces is to move it. Any questions, please ask (please ping me if you do so). Schwede66 22:10, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for explaining - and no problem to keep that in mind in future. Wikidea 11:35, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pinduoduo article help?[edit]

Hi, I’m an employee of Pinduoduo, one of the largest companies in Asia. I posted a proposal to make some updates about the company at Talk:Pinduoduo#Fixing problems with NPOV and PROMOTIONAL language on the Pinduoduo Talk page, but there hasn’t been any discussion so far. I was wondering if you as a member of the Companies WikiProject might be willing to take a look at the proposal? Thanks very much. Snowy2000 (talk) 15:58, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Carmody Draft[edit]

Hi! I see you are a member of WikiProject Law. I am seeking feedback on a draft I created about trial attorney Bill Carmody, of Susman Godfrey, who has been profiled in the press several times because of the size and prominence of his cases. I have explained more here: User talk:Backyard116/sandbox/Bill Carmody/Seeking feedback. He’s a personal connection of mine, so impartial advice on notability and neutral point of view would be greatly appreciated. Backyard116 (talk) 16:17, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
