Mec Vannin[edit]

What you removed was not vandalism, but quotations from Mec Vannin's own website, along with the links. If they put it on their own website, why is it no good for wikipedia? I take it you are probably the individual who has been repeatedly (and anonymously) removing categories, links, and actual quotations from various related articles. --ImpartialCelt 18:42, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

- Not selective at all really. Look in most Mec Vannin material, and there is something about English immigration into the Isle of Man. I have marked this page for cleanup because of the gap between the "Electoral scores achieved by CDU" header and the actual table marking the election results. Moving Dutch Parties[edit]

I saw you proposed moving some Dutch parties (DS'70, PPR, CHU, RKSP). But I think you missed out the Algeemene Bond van RK-kiesverenigingen, the Reformatorische Politieke Federatie, the Onafhankelijke Senaatsfractie and GroenLinks. Wriston Bolender[edit]

I have no idea who that is. An earlier version of the Jackson Heights page said that "Jackson Heights holds Queens' largest population of gays and its own gay community. Their spokesperson is Wriston Bolender." That statement is unverifiable (census information on gays?) and it's absurd that they would have a 'spokesperson'. I went back and an earlier version of the page said he was a photographer, so I removed the later point and reinserted him as a photographer. aliceinlampyland 22:23, 7 May 2006 (UTC).[reply]

British Spellings izes and ises[edit]

I noticed your had entered "corrections" on British articles where words ended with the suffix "ize" or "izing". Using "z" is mistakingly believed to be American, but is in fact the preferred stlye among many British accademics including the compilers of the Oxford English Dictionary. Ending words in "ise" is a late development in Commonwealth English which gained poularity after the second world war. If you are able, look in any reference book or dictionary of the early C20 or before and you would be hard pushed to see "ise". Having said all that, both versions are now acceptable in modern British English, but there is no necessity to change it from one to another (I think also there might be a few isolated exceptioms where one form is correct but not the other). I never said Harvard was begun by French Jesuits, but that the college was founded by French Jesuits, it's a fact, an historical fact. It was made for Catholics missions and the Indians. The Harvard college (Colonial/American) was founded one year later on the Jesuits college (French Jesuits, because of the Indians and English, were kicked out of the area). Of course Harvard have nothing to do with the French jesuits, but the college itself, kind of yes! (I don't think we can find any trace of Jesuits buildings today, but you know what I mean...)

re: Geir Haarde[edit]

Dear Alice. I noticed your edit to Geir Haarde and while strictly speaking it appears to be more or less accurate it seems to lack a NPOV. He seems to have been "convicted" via a political process rather than a criminal court. I wonder if there is a more neutral form of words that could be used in the lead. Just my 2cents. If you'd like to update, reference, edit, and revise this article, please, go right ahead. I have full-time employment which precludes me from being able to dedicate time to such a project. As it stands the article is essentially one big unsourced or very poorly sourced allegation of violence and terrorism. That is unacceptable, both from the standpoint of building a credible encyclopedia and for having a basic sense of social responsibility. I am reverting your reversion. Addendum to add that you will find the references is actually non-extant, (one leads back to a Portlandia fan page); inaccessible, decades-old; POV and so forth. This article reads like it was written to vilify its subject.
