I have just this minute finished listening to his 2004 Massey Lecture "A Brief History of Progress".
I am deeply impressed. The breadth and depth of his understanding and vision are truly profound for the species if not the planet in the short term (geologically speaking). It is (and no "perhaps" required) the most important non-fiction work (of any discipline) I have ever read or (listened to) and every naked ape on the planet should have a chance to do so - our very existence depends on it (and no "may" required either). Please spread the word! The more info on him here the better. Please contribute as I can find little info and no personal home page for this exceptional writer and intellectual.
