Early Rulers of Catalonia

Wifred the Hairy (d. 898) was Count of Barcelona, Gerona, Osona, Urgell, Cerdanya, and Besalú. On his death, his possessions were split among his sons: Wifred Borell I received Barcelona, Gerona, and Osona; Sunyer received Urgell; Miro received Cerdanya and Besalú; a fourth son, Ralph became Bishop of Urgell.

Wifred Borell I (d. 912) was Count of Barcelona, Gerona, and Osona. He had no direct heirs, and was succeeded by his brother Sunyer.

Sunyer (d.954) became Count of Urgell on the death of his father in 898. Upon the death of his elder brother in 912 he became count of Barcelona, Gerona, and Osona.
