GA on hold[edit]

A good article overall. Just a few things that need to be touched up first. Month-year combinations don't need a comma (December 1983 instead of December, 1983). Delink Slayer in the producer section of the infobox. It'd be helpful to use an appositive to show who some of the people are (e.g. "guitarist Kerry King"). "Slayer were": I could be wrong, but I believe the convention is to refer to bands like Slayer in the singular (at least the American convention is, since the subject is American). "Jeff (Hanneman)": if Hanneman wasn't part of the original quote, use brackets instead of parentheses. Congrats to WP Slayer, by the way, for pumping out some quality articles. Looks good. I didn't notice at first, but there are some minor problems with quotations marks. There shouldn't be any smart quotes (“, ”, and ’); these normally come from writing in a word processing software like MS Word. Also, quotes inside quotes should have single quotes: Bob said, "Mary told me that 'This is a quotation.'" Make sure to correct that at some point; other than that, this looks like it meets WP:WIAGA. Image:Fight Till Death 83 demo clip.ogg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Fight Till Death sample[edit]

I've removed it. I've had this album for over 20 years, that sample was not taken from it. It sounds more like a pre-production demo. I'm not even sure why this article talks about "poor production quality," since it's actually quite good, all things considered. GA Sweeps: Pass[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing Sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria. I went through the article and made various changes, please look them over. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good Article. Altogether the article is well-written and is still in great shape after its passing in 2007. Continue to improve the article making sure all new information is properly sourced and neutral. It would be beneficial to update the access dates for all of the sources. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. First-Wave Black Metal[edit]

I don't know how Slayer's Show No Mercy can't nt be considered first-wave of black metal. Venom is considerd the band that invented black metal, yet Show No Mercy was released in 1983 and Welcome to Hell was released in 1981. Bathory is the band that actually would define black metal as we know it and there first album was released in 1984. Slayer's Show No Mercy is a 1983 release so how is it not a fist-wave of black metal album album. (Yes I know it's obviously speed metal I want to know about the black metal part.) It's primary a sound that is composed of these particular genres: early thrash metal and first-wave black metal when this album was mainly influenced by Venom, King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, the heaviest styles of punk (at the time), and the also the majority of New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands as well. If Wikipedia doesn't believe you or even the editor[s] who edit this album page; it is a lie indeed, it is a black metal, even if this is their only one: it is a black metal at heart with thrash metal and bits and pieces of hardcore punk thrown in there. But still, "Show No Mercy" is a good album that test the stands of time to be one of the best Slayer albums that can be listened over and over again--much like their other albums of the 80's--it will be around and around again in the black metal circles of today's time, it sounds weird, but it is not; it has Satanic imagery and lyrics, they're offensive, and they are as laughable as listening to Anal Cunt, because they didn't yet progressed in that department however. panicpack121 18:00, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per Wiki's traffic, Slayer's album gets 248 visits a day, Bride's album has 5 hits a day, and the song has 4 hits a day. Oddly, the disambiguation page is second most visited with 6 hits.
