Dumping MSX ROM cartridges[edit]

I'm quite sure this page deserves to be somewhere on the Internet, but I don't think that somewhere is Wikipedia.

No potential to become encyclopedic.

  • Delete - it's a howto, and hence not right for Wikipedia. A two-sentence description of this process (not a howto) might be appropriate in MSX, if someone cared to write it. Cdc 22:04, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. All of the above is true, and what's more, the legality of dumping the cartridges even for personal use is dubious, thus making a detailed how-to somewhat legally sketchy. (For example, Nintendo claims on their website that playing ROMs even for games that you own, much less exchanging them with others, is illegal. Copyright law in the United States is open to this interpretation.) --LostLeviathan 00:06, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

--- however no one would ever sue anyone who tries to dump a msx cartidge , doing so would expose that 150-170 year long copyright are a fraud because it becomes extremely unlikely than an original copyrighted works will survice this long , so when the copyright expire , the material is long lost and forgotten , nothing enters the public domain making the whole copyright thing void , so , you will not ever see an author sue someone trying to preserve a 20 year old obscure material in fear that copyrights might start getting shorter (like the very reasonable 7 year long original copyright) , so that's it for the it's illegal argument (btw , I don't like people acting all "this might be illegal , we don't want to offend our copyright masters , let's delete it just to be on the safe side" this attitude is extremely counter-productive and is a side-effect of everyone losing their rights because they didn't know they had them in the first place , this is what happens when corporations say slightly wrong things like "copyright infrigement is theft" and then copyright infrigement becomes theft) well anyway...

for the "this is a howto not a proper encyclopedia article" , well , wikipedia isn't your everyday encyclopedia .. I don't see the problem really , it's not like we're short on article address space space or disk space , I think this is good complementary information to the MSX entry and but to put this information in the MSX entry would clutter the MSX entry wikipedia@domn.net ---

  • Transwiki to Wikibooks then delete from Wikipedia... it's illegal for a cartdrige owner to do a backup of the cartridge, preserving the cartridge and having the backup to play in the proper machine emulator? I don't think the article being deleted because of illegal, but instead should be moved to wikibooks because it doesn't seem to be a concept for an enciclopedia.
