  • I had a friend upload an image of myself. I put it up on the board. I come on today and somebody has vandalized the original image to some plaque. It is at Image:Wheeler.jpg. There is no revision history for this image either. Can someone explain how this was revised without leaving a revision history? And I am getting sick and tired of the vandalism of this site.     • Fixed. I don't know what you're talking about; there was an older version listed at the bottom of the image page; I hit 'rev' and all was fixed. Remember, image pages don't work the same as regular pages. Several one-time vandals are creating accounts, then writing nonsense into Talk pages which have no articles associated with them. But each account only creates one article. Looks like some random bot. So far I've deleted three "articles":

Vandal bot via various proxies

  • There is a chronic problem with the most idiotic vandal bot in the history of the computer. It logs on via remote proxies from all over the world and dumps legit-sounding titles which it probably plucks from the Net followed by an echo of the title in the body of the article and nothing else. Occasionally, it comes through as a few random keystrokes or a small, nonsensical statement. - Lucky 6.9 22:06, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
There is also one who is a friend of many gay people. Again it comes from various IPs, it occasionally creates new articles but more often than not inserts "Mr Green our geography teacher is gay" OWTTE in various articles. If you revert it changes it's behaviour. Instead of main page edits it edits the reverters userpage informing everyone that the user is gay.     He has been consistently adding to Hezbollah (as well as once to Hassan Nasrallah) some stuff on an unfounded theory regarding Hezbollah supposedly having total control over all of IDF elite units and intelligence. He doesn't discuss it, he just keeps reposting it. The style and contents of his writing is reminiscent of another vandal who was writing from IP addresses 216.109.1.*, who I believe was banned just before this IP started to post on this subject (see Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/United_Nations_Partisan_Forces_in_Lebanon_(UNPFIL)). I would be happy to discuss this with him, as I'm pretty sure it's sheer fantasy, but I cannot force him to talk about it (at least I don't know of any way). Am I going to have to revert his changes every other day?

The anon has created stubs on some obscure photographers that we didn't have before (Roger Fenton, William Shew) just to have more places to spam, so not all edits should be deleted.
