Spelling conventions[edit]

I've had a go at improving this article. One minor, pedantic point: I think there's a reasonable case to push this one into British spelling conventions, since it's a Middle English poem about English history, which sounds like a pretty clear-cut case of MOS:TIES to me. I've done this in my edits.

I suppose in the fullness of time that might mean the article becomes "St Erkenwald (poem)" rather than "St. Erkenwald (poem)". Uryence (talk) 10:01, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[Untitled][edit]

A better title might be Erkenwald, bishop of London with the brief facts known of his life (see Barking Abbey), and a fuller treatment of this poem. Context always gives depth. Just a thought. --Wetman 14:42, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Word List?[edit]

Unclear why this article needs lists of words with yogh or thorn—this is not an article on Middle English; we might as well have lists of color terms. It is not germane to the text, so I propose deleting it.--Akhenaten0 (talk) 20:34, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this now years-old comment. Thorn and yogh have articles of their own, and there is nothing special about their use in St Erkenwald which would require detailed explanation here rather than links to those articles. I'm going to wait a little while and then, if no one objects, remove that bit. We can always revert it if others then differ. Uryence (talk) 11:21, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
