Redirect target[edit]

This makes no sense. "usa" should redirect to United States as that is a far more common search than Oita Usa, lowercase or not. Peter 17:25, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I updated it to redirect to USA (disambiguation), which seems to cover just about everything. --Grinning Fool 19:50, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The apparent consensus for US was to have that redirect to United States and to have three disambiguation pages: US, USA, and United States listed at the top of that article. The United States is just so much more notable than all of the other things on that list that it makes sense. If you take a look at WP:NAME, it instructs us to think about what most users are looking for when they type a term into their search bar. Please do not change this back without consensus. savidan(talk) (e@) 06:19, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, but (for future reference) where can I find info on this kind of consensus? I looked under Talk:US, and under Talk:United States, but no luck...--Grinning Fool 20:32, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am changing it back to linking to United States because that is what most users are looking for when searching 'usa'. There is a disambiguation page at the top of the target article if you were, in fact, looking for something else. BhamBoi (talk) 03:48, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure it is correct for this capitalisation: I would prefer the dab page. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 16:02, 8 March 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Protection[edit]

Shouldn't one of the highest used redirect pages be protected? Easily subject to vandalism and cant harm to put a semi-protect on it. 92bob (talk) 04:05, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Usa was viewed 1,775 times last week. For comparison, Stranger Things (season 4) had 2,739,379 views. The page has been vandalised once in the last three years. We don't normally protect in such circumstances but, if you feel it's necessary, WP:RFPP is the place to ask. Certes (talk) 10:30, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
