Pulling Goalie in Ice Hockey Typical Time[edit]
In the current article, it is claimed (with no citation) that pulling the goalie typically occurs between 60 and 90 seconds before the end of the game. I was watching the recent Hurricanes-Islanders game, and the announcers mentioned that Patrick Roy started pulling the goalie earlier than that (2 or even 3 minutes before the end of the game), and more teams started doing it afterwards. From a search, I have found other people claiming similarly that the average time before the end of the game that the goalie is pulled in the NHL has indeed increased, and studies showing that pulling the goalie earlier is optimal. In the game I watched, the Islanders indeed pulled their goalie with about 2 minutes left.
While none of the sources I found probably are up to the standards of Wikipedia, would this be something that should be updated in the article? AWildHannahAppeared (talk) 02:11, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
