Good job on the HHverse[edit]

A year ago when I came to Wiki I also started my edits from Honorverse :) I feel I should warn you that short (stub) articles about fictional things tend to get listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion and either are deleted or (more often) forcibly merged with some other fictional article. So when you create a new honorverse article, you may want to expand it more and remove the stub note ASAP. Happy editing! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 13:15, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I happen to be one of the people who feel that stubs are better than no article. Anyway, I do want to expand them, and I will, but I haven't read most of the books in years and don't remember information about the characters accurately enough to add it to the articles. I created the articles hoping that someone more knowledgeable than myself would add to them. Oh, and I'm glad you noticed them. SpaceCaptain 01:35, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hello![edit]

Good to see that you are still working on the Honorverse articles. I wasn't sure if you had just started the stubs and forgotten about them or not. I started an article on Gryphon today, so now we have articles on all three planets in the Manticore system.*Kat* 03:31, Mar 4, 2005 (UTC)

Thunderbirds[edit]

There's some question about where you got the information on the time setting of the show. Would you mind saying a bit at Talk: Thunderbirds (TV series) about where 2026 comes from? -- Antaeus Feldspar 14:32, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

A question on external links[edit]

I just wondered: How can we be sure Wikipedia doesn't link to sites containing viruses, spyware or other harmful programs? SpaceCaptain 16:15, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

IMHO Wikipedia cannot be responsible for that, the editor is. The situation today on the web in general requires the end use to take such responsibility by using anti-spyware and anti-viral software. Anyway, SpaceCaptain I came to your discussion page because I noticed you authored some of the Day of Defeat entry. If you have any inpute about the railroad maps or anything else about DoD, please edit. major.T 17:30, 17 Apr 2005 (HST)

I know absolutely nothing about Day of Defeat; all I did was add a missing "a". SpaceCaptain 04:21, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Copyright[edit]

Your comment at Talk:Camelback locomotive shows, I suspect, a misunderstanding of copyright. Facts and information are not copyrightable. Only the expression of them can be. As the stating of only one reference hints, the article is based on only one source. Thus it will contain information derived only from there. It does desperately need other sources, so if you have any, feel free to add information. —Morven 08:46, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)

I thought that incuding all the same information, organized and phrased similarly, might be grounds for complaint. I haven't read much on copyright law. And sorry, I don't know any other good sources for information on camelbacks - they're not exactly my favorite locomotives... SpaceCaptain 00:49, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thank you, Grunt![edit]

And somebody should block Netaholic. SpaceCaptain 00:46, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

What is NPOV?[edit]

No, I'm not asking because I don't know. I'm asking because it seems many people on Wikipedia don't know. A huge number of articles seem to be written on the assumption that NPOV should be mildly positive toward its subject. (This is not to say that I haven't seen overly positive and overly negative tones.) SpaceCaptain 15:18, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Fire Upon the Deep[edit]

Someone added a trivia item to the FUtD article that says that Woodcarver's parliament chamber is in the form of a hypercube or tesseract. You then made some minor correction to it. I've been thumbing through my copy and am totally unable to find this reference. Have you any idea where it is? Dyolf Knip 03:43, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My correction was just fixing the spelling. I don't own the book - read a library copy a couple years ago. I can't be relied on for most details... but how could a parliament chamber on a primitive world be 4-dimensional? It doesn't make sense to me. SpaceCaptain 01:27, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Portal/project[edit]

Is there a portal or a project on the Honorverse?Akako| 12:25, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No. If you want to know if a project exists, check Wikipedia:List_of_WikiProjects. SpaceCaptain 23:55, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I must be going insane.[edit]

I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. I distinctly remember making this edit, and changing nothing but the link to "grappling iron" to "grappling hook". Thank you for fixing the mess, and I'm sorry for whatever caused it in the first place... and at a loss at what that was. Geez. --Kizor 04:34, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thought you'd want to know. And we are now working on 'prettyfying' that list, as well as list of ships (I advertised wiki entries on Bar and we have some newcomers). Feel free to join in if you have time :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:14, 15 July 2006 (UTC) At last, that annoying task is done! I don't do much work on the Honorverse articles anymore since I gave up reading the series. SpaceCaptain 15:28, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Hawkwing-class, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). A number of Honorverse character articles have criticisms of notability and quality, though not all of these are proposed for deletion. There needs to be some standardization across the set; some procedure developed. SpaceCaptain (talk) 18:20, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Adrienne Warshawski[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Adrienne Warshawski, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

appears to be little more than an unsourced article

Proposed deletion of Andermani Empire[edit]

The article Andermani Empire has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:

Andermani Empire – news, books, scholar Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Abductive (talk) 07:47, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Orion's Arm[edit]

An editor has nominated Orion's Arm, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Orion's Arm and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you.Robofish (talk) 21:56, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
