"Some of the battles listed here may have been mythological." - since there is no historical evidence at all, that may be an understatement. I assume the dates (AM) are presumably from the Ussher Calendar. --Henrygb 22:30, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Not sure to be honest. I created this page to distinguish the battles here from the historical ones on Irish battles, where they had been previously. This is really a page on Irish early mythology, some of the battles listed hereare important in the ancient Irish historical sagas. User:Fergananim is responsable for the content, so it would be a good idea to ask him. Jdorney

Multiple issues[edit]

This article is not remotely encyclopedic. I've rewritten the intro to remove some of the worst errors (claiming these battles occurred in early Irish history misleadingly suggests that they can reliably said to have happened, which they can't, and conflicts with the article title - prehistory and early history are two different periods). However, multiple issues remain. It relies on one source, the Annals of the Four Masters, which is very late, and misleading gives the impression that its chronology can be regarded as absolute, when other annalistic and chronicle sources, from the early annals and the Lebor Gabála to Keating, have different chronologies, and all of them are artificial. I think this article could conceivably be useful to a reader interested in finding out more about how the Irish reconstructed their ancient past, but as it currently stands it's virtually worthless. I'll see what can be done to improve it, but it will take time. --Nicknack009 (talk) 07:08, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
