Discussion[edit]

Hi. In most similar pages regarding a country's delegation at the Olympics, the "results" section lists results of all athletes affiliated to that NOC for that specific timespan (usually a daily basis). On this article, however, the only results listed are those from medallists. I'm well aware of the awesome amount of time and work it would take to expand this article on that basis, given the considerable size of China's delegation in Athens, not to mention it's amazing performance. Just a thought, I'll leave it to those who have been in charge of this article though (as if it's not enough work listing all the Chinese medallists for these Olympics — I mean, have them no sympathy for us poor Wikipedians? Look at all the work it's costing us!). Redux 19:05, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Republic of China / Taiwan[edit]

I'm disputing the inclusion of Republic of China (Chinese Taipei) in this article's header. Taiwan, currently is not part of China and the only basis for such, regarding China's sovereignty over Taiwan, is, up to this point, still a CLAIM, and nothing more. The article's title is "China at ..." and there are a number of reasons for such an article to include a prominent link to the Chinese Taipei article. Mostly, it is there to avoid confusion. Regardless of the validity of any sovereignty claims (which it is not Wikipedia's place to judge), there are many who believe that Taiwan is part of China, including those who believe that the ROC is the rightful government of all of China. There are some who use "China" to refer to the Republic of China. There are some who use "China" to refer to mainland China and Taiwan. There are some who use "China" to refer only to mainland China. It behooves us to make as clear as possible what is meant by "China" in the Olympic context anywhere there might be confusion. If you think the lead as worded is supportive of any claim, please do say so, because it should be as neutral as absolutely possible.
