Untitled[edit]

What gets included here is going to depend on what constitutes an "aircraft of the Luftwaffe". There's a core group of types - those supplied to operational Luftwaffe units - that unquestionably fit, but what about...

Aircraft intended for the Luftwaffe but not supplied before the end of the war? (e.g. Messerschmitt Me 263, Dornier Do 335, my opinion - include)
Prototypes still under active development at the end of the war, which may or may not eventually have been accepted (e.g. Gotha Go 229, DFS 228, my opinion - include)
Prototypes rejected by the Luftwaffe or cancelled projects (e.g. Dornier Do 10, Messerschmitt Me 328, my opinion - do not include)
Purely research and experimental types (e.g. DFS 39, Göppingen Gö 9, my opinion - do not include)
Types still on paper (e.g. Focke-Wulf Ta 183, Messerschmitt Me 609, my opinion - do not include)
Civil types that may have seen some military use, pressed into service as hacks or trainers (e.g. Fieseler Fi 5, my opinion - do not include)

Probably all german aircraft or any other aircraft that became part of the Luftwaffe, and that directly participated in WW2, is what the page shoudl be. Project and prototype aircraft can be moved away except perhaps for the most notable to the projects page, and perhaps the others you speak of could go to a page like List of aircraft of the Third Reich or something to that effect. All the non-applicalble RLM planes will have to be moved away as well too. Greyengine5 05:49, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

from VfD[edit]

This page was nominated for deletion on 27 Jan 2005. The overwhelming concensus was that this page should be merged and then redirected to List of military aircraft of Germany. See Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/List of aircraft of the Luftwaffe, World War II for a record of the discussion. Note, User:Rossami forgot to type four tildes.

On the contrary, it looks like the consensus was to merge any Luftwaffe info at List of military aircraft of Germany to here. dbenbenn | talk 23:03, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

FighterTable[edit]

I am far from an expert, so please help me. I converted the Fighter/Interceptor list into a sortable table because so many of them were prototypes, that it was hard to tell what actually flew in combat. I tried to be careful in the production/prototype column, but I am sure I made some mistakes. Could someone with expertise correct the table. Rather than trying to determine the status, I would suggest simply listing the number built, which is much more useful. You can usually find this on the page for each type if you lack a single source for the information as it is usually sources from dozens of books. On the other hand, the number of references that can state the actual status is minimal, especially for late types where the order may have been given but production aircraft may not have been completed or operational. The Do 335 is listed as production but only a very small number of production aircraft were built, thus making it seem as a more important type than it was.NiD.29 07:03, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Hello there is a small problem with this article: the Luftwaffe acquired (not only caputured) many hundreds of Italian aircraft, like the Savoia Marchetti S.M. 82 of which the Germans used half the production, approx. 450 aircraft. Not mentioning the Fiat C.R. 42 used by Germans against the partisans in Yugoslavia, so I think it is better to change the title of Captured in Acquired or captured or acquired. --Gian piero milanetti (talk) 06:49, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
