Page has been requested for speedy deletion as this does not appear to be an actual term. (Hits on Google are either in other languages or mispellings of pedal.)--g026r 21:43, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

This page should not be deleted because we have so few nice persons on this planet who enlighten our day, so its very useful to know at least of one! By the way it's no mispelling!--Bp215 21:50, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
It is a common termn for a nice guy, it happens very often that friends say "You are such a Pedel!" or "It's like Pedel!"--80.144.125.108 21:59, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
So, if I follow what both of you are saying, it's a term for a nice guy that's used among a small group of people. (80.144.125.108's suggestion that the term is in common usage outside of a small clique doesn't have any verifiable evidence.) In which case, it falls under the category of Slang used by a small number of people on Wikipedia:What's in, what's out (Section 7.14.1: Catchphrases, neologisms, and slang), and is clearly labeled as Out. Adding it to votes for deletion. (Also, please sign your posts on the discussion page. It can be done automatically via 4 ~'s)--g026r 22:49, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Basically, its a term deriving from a German origin. It is not used in written language, and only in special regions of Germany, especially in Lower Saxony. Nevertheless, it is an important term and in my opinion therefore good to know, resulting from that it has it's right to exist on wikipedia. 80.144.124.167 12:43, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Again an addition: I talked with some friends from Denmark, and they also have the term Pedel, as Danish is related to German. On this Link you find one guy who reached the status Pedel, the other guy is something like a mid-Pedel, which does not exist in Germany at all. 80.144.124.167 13:57, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Since this is the "free encyclopedia" (at least it says that in the headline of every article), why shouldn't any rather "exotic" words, even if they are more often used in other languages, be in here? In addition to that, the word can be connected (and linked) to almost every positive word you find on this page. 80.144.124.167 13:57, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I am coming from mid-Germany and heard this term once. It was used as a word for an extremely groovy guy, and since then, I used it several times. 80.144.113.151 13:55, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Here another example for the usage of "pedel". Especially the first sentence expresses the function of the term pretty well. "The pedel is the master of ceremonies who guards and directs protocol.." This goes perfectly with ceremonies like birthday celebrations or big events, on which a Pedel remembers nearly every detail that is worth mentioning afterwards.
