is the castle by now open to the public? (it was not in 2000)

Nope its still not open, but discussions are on going

"Notable people from Birr"[edit]

This list continues to be an easy target for VN and other hoax posts. I expect that these attacks are practically encouraged given that there is no sources given to the current listings, or no indication given to why these people are notable or worth mentioning (and therefore there is no precedence/guideline). Because of this I expect these VN/hoax postings will continue.

Given that none of the current list members are notable enough to warrant an article of their own, then one of two things probably need to happen. Option one - Remove the list entirely. Option 2 - "flesh out" the listings to confirm why the members are notable. (And 2.1 - if they don't or can't be fleshed out, then they are likely "not notable" and can be removed). Guliolopez 10:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Per above, this list continues to be an easy target for nonsense and vanity posts. Given that there has been no significant action taken on Option 2 as above, and therefore the list members are evidently not notable (by any Wikipedia:Notability_(people) or Wikipedia:Verifiability criteria), then - unless there are any marked objections - I'm going to act on Option 1 soon and remove the list. Crinkle[edit]

The village of Crinkle should be mentioned. Badagnani (talk) 20:53, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's under Crinkill. Badagnani (talk) 20:57, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

County location?[edit]

A reader, writing to Wikimedia Foundation, asked a question, which I will pose as follows (x-posted to the other talk page):

How does the opening sentence of King's County Birr (UK Parliament constituency):

Birr, a division of King's County

Reconcile with Birr, which states:

Birr (Irish: Biorra; pronounced [b??r]) is a town in County Offaly, Ireland.

Is Birr in Kig's county or Offaly county?--SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:26, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Birr is in King's county or Offaly county. What is now commonly called County Offaly was called King's County "In 1556, an Act of the Irish parliament created "King's County", named after Philip, the then King of Ireland.[12] Despite the county's name being upheld as Offaly through the 2001 Local Government Act, no legislation was ever enacted after independence explicitly changing the name from King's County, the name formally established under the 1898 Local Government Act which continued to have legal effect."

King's County Birr (UK Parliament constituency) referred to a seat of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Nedrutland (talk) 16:38, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move.[edit]
