Welcome[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia!

If you want, you can drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself. You can sign your name on talk pages by using " ~~~ " for your username and " ~~~~ " for your username and a timestamp,. Our convention is to sign posts on some pages such as VfD but not on others, and particularly not articles.

You might like to have a look at Wikipedia:autobiography to better understand some of the comments above. I'd echo the advice not to take it to personally, it's good to be bold but it can be a disheartening way to learn the ropes.

We're human! One of my early articles was listed for deletion as lacking content six minutes after I created it, and when I objected that I'd been in the middle of adding the content when this facetious version was put there, I was told I was lucky it hadn't been deleted outright. The same user (a sysop) justified his actions by calling this million selling author an "unknown academic".

But that's the way Wikis work. We did eventually get a reasonable stub article.

Anyway, some other places to look:

Please feel free to drop me a question on my talk page if you think I can help in any way. Andrewa 00:47, 25 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
