The page Wikipedia:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License should not be edited (see Wikipedia:copyrights, GNU Free Documentation License). In theory, someone could edit the license maliciously (e.g., "from now on, all contributions are immediately owned by Joe Blow") and argue all later changes implicitly accepted the modified license. Such changes are unlikely to stand in court, but it could make life unpleasant and life is too short to let vandals cause these sorts of problems. A check of the history will confirm whether it has been or not, but normally the text is protected so it cannot be edited at all.

Should we not try to wikify it a bit? I would certainly have appreciated links to the FSF website and the text of the GPL. Hyperlinks would not in any way change the meaning of the license, but would make it a more useful document. -- ChrisO 16:13, 23 Feb 2004 (UTC)
No, I think it's best not to edit it at all. If people start editing it to add various wikilinks, it will make it harder to check whether someone has actually changed the text. Angela. 03:39, Feb 24, 2004 (UTC)
I disagree... there's no reason it can't be done in a structured way with actual changes being only made by admins... besides, edits can be verified to see that nothing other than [[ ]] has been added. --Random|832 11:55, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Yes, although we should not modify the license itself (not even to add links), I would like to see a few links to related things. Brianjd
A little unclear? We should not add links in the middle of the license, but a links section should be added above or below (I think below is best), clearly separated from the license. Brianjd
