Here is the content you created for Stephen Austin which has been deleted and redirected to Stephen F. Austin:
- The son of a Missouri mine owner who, after his fathers death in 1821, helped establish an American Colony in Texas. Stephen Austin traveled to Mexico City to persuade the new Mexican government to allow him to start a colony. It took him almost a year to get permission. The Mexican government would only allow it if the settlers became Mexican citizens and members of the Roman Catholic Church. Between 1821 and 1827, Austin attracted 297 families to his new settlement. The original Texas settler families are known as “The Old Three-Hundred.” He demanded evidence that each family was moral, would work hard, and not drink. The success of Austin’s colony attracted more settlers and land speculators to Texas.
You may want to include some of this material in Stephen F. Austin. As others have said, you should not include so many links because it makes the article too cluttered.
Followup:
- I noticed that you added the extra Stephen Austin information as a new section. If you feel up to it, you might want to weave the extra information into the main body of the article. However, I suppose others can do that if you're still getting a feel for editing articles.
- I have learned a lot from Wikipedia by checking on what other people did to my edits; I increased my skills much faster this way. You might want to check back on the edits you did; you can do this by clicking on "My contributions" and then looking at the "Page history" of various articles that you had worked on.
Misunderstanding of the Wikipedia edit process[edit]
Hello again. It seems that you have a misunderstanding of the Wikipedia edit process. It is not generally appropriate to write your own summary of the article and then to tack it onto the end. Much of your material is already covered in the article and has to be removed. What is left over has to be woven in. Articles should form a single coherent flow. The kind of edits you are making are leaving lots of work for other people to do, cleaning up after you. Please bear this in mind in your contributions.
Also, your contributions are "overwikified". To restate: you shouldn't try to wikify everything, but only things that are meaningful. A term needs only to be wikified once, not every time it appears. There are many people who would be willing to help you learn the right way to edit articles, if you desire. It seems like you have a high desire to contribute. - I changed two articles that you created into redirects. American romanticism now points to Romanticism, where there is a general desciption that inlcudes American topics, as well as a list of American romanticists. If you would like to add more, that is the place to do it. Also, Free public education now points to Public education. Finally, I've marked your article Push pull factors for immigrants for discussion pending possible deletion. It duplicates material found in other articles. As a general suggestion, look around to see if there is already articles covering your topics of interest before creating new ones.
